Manjunatha Temple
The temple stands on the Nethravathi and the deity is Manjunatha, a form of Shiva, with the daivas Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari as guardians. Madhwa Vaishnava priests conduct the worship, and the Jain Heggade family has administered the institution for around eight centuries. Pilgrims traditionally bathe in the river before darshan. Visit in the morning or the evening session; the temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the queue moves efficiently by the standards of shrines this busy.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Yediyur
Siddhalingeshwara Temple Town
The route leaves Bangalore northwest onto NH 75, and the Nelamangala junction is the only stretch that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past it before 7:00 AM, since four corridors diverge there and weekend traffic builds quickly. Beyond it the highway opens properly. Kunigal has one of the oldest stud farms in India, associated with Tipu Sultan. Yediyur, twenty-five kilometres on, has a lakeside Siddhalingeshwara temple and the best breakfast cluster on this road - worth using properly, since the options thin considerably after Hassan and there is nothing much on the ghat.

Hassan
Base of the Hoysala Belt
Eighty-five kilometres of good four-lane highway as the landscape shifts into plantation country - coconut, areca and paddy, greener and more enclosed than the open ground behind. Channarayapatna is the junction for Shravanabelagola, where the Gommateshwara monolith stands twelve kilometres off the highway. Hassan is the district headquarters and the base for the Hoysala circuit at Belur and Halebidu, both UNESCO World Heritage since 2023. On a Dharmasthala run most groups pass straight through, though for anyone with a spare half day Belur is thirty-five kilometres north and worth it. Beyond Hassan the road begins its approach to the Ghats.

Sakleshpur
Coffee Hill Town of the Hassan Ghats
Sakleshpur sits where the plantations begin, a coffee and cardamom town at the top of the range with estate country spreading around it. Beyond it the road enters the Shiradi ghat and starts down toward the coast through forest - a long descent that has been rebuilt in concrete along much of its length precisely because the monsoon used to take the surface out every year. This is the section our drivers check on before departure. In a normal season it is a straightforward if slow descent; in a bad monsoon it can be under repair, restricted or closed, and the alternative is Charmadi from Kottigehara or a considerably longer diversion. We would rather establish the position at 5 AM than at the barrier.

Dharmasthala
Abode of Dharma
At the foot of the ghat the country changes completely - coastal Karnataka, humid and dense, with areca and coconut where there was forest, and the Nethravathi running alongside. Uppinangady sits at the confluence of the Nethravathi and the Kumaradhara, which is a bathing place in its own right and a natural stop. Ujire comes eight kilometres before the temple and is the local town, with the college the Heggade family founded and the base for the Bandaje trek. Dharmasthala itself is compact and entirely organised around the temple - dining halls, accommodation blocks, the museum and the river. Vehicle access near the temple is managed and drops are at designated points. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in by around 12:30 PM, in time for a meal and an afternoon darshan.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Dharmasthala Route
Corporate Package
Bangalore companies book this route in two ways: as a staff temple trip, which a good many employers organise annually, and as the transport leg of a Chikmagalur or coastal offsite that returns through Charmadi. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full trip and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate tempo traveller bangalore stays with the team throughout, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. For headcounts past eighteen we move to a mini bus or run two vehicles on a coordinated departure. Our corporate travels desk handles the arrangement end to end.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common booking here by a wide margin. Three or four related families, or a neighbourhood association, travelling for two or three days across Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Southadka and sometimes Udupi and the coast. Planned around darshan sessions and the temple meal timings rather than around driving times, with a driver who understands that the group will be inside for two hours and that phones stay in the vehicle. Tempo traveller for family trip bangalore bookings usually take the 17 seater even at fourteen passengers, since the extra row makes the ghat section noticeably more comfortable for elders.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides everything, which on a route with free meals and free accommodation is most of them. Non-AC 12 to 17 seater tempo travellers, point to point, clean vehicles and verified drivers. Non-AC works well here for much of the year, since the hill section from Hassan onwards is cool and the windows do the rest. The tempo traveller rate per km bangalore for the non-AC tier is the lowest rate we quote on any vehicle of this size, and across a 305 kilometre run the saving across a full group is real. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance standards, driver vetting or statutory compliance.
Luxury and Executive Package
The luxury tempo traveller bangalore tier, with wider reclining seats, extra legroom from a reduced seat count, better interiors and improved cabin insulation. On a route with a ghat descent in the middle of it, the difference in seat quality and suspension is felt rather than merely seen. This suits senior management travel, milestone family occasions and groups travelling with elders who will find a standard bench configuration hard work over seven hours. For a further step, the luxury urbania rental bangalore van in 13 to 17 seater form is the premium alternative on the same route.
Our Tempo Traveller Fleet in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller bangalore fleet covers 8 to 18 seater configurations in standard and luxury trim. We run the full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you across categories without restarting the process.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and non-AC, standard and luxury, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium alternative in the same size class
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, for groups past eighteen
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large temple associations
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova and Commuter through Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle we run is seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route the drive is comfortably completed in daylight with an early start, and we would not take a group down the Shiradi ghat in darkness or heavy rain if it can be avoided. Where a group prefers to split the journey we plan a hotel halt at Hassan or Sakleshpur.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax where applicable. The Dharmasthala route stays within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises unless your itinerary extends beyond the state
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Dharmasthala Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to dharmasthala distance is approximately 305 kilometres via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, the Shiradi ghat and Uppinangady, which comes to six and a half to seven and a half hours including halts. It is one of the shorter outstation runs we operate and stays on NH75 almost throughout. The alternative up the Charmadi ghat through Ujire and Kottigehara is around 330 kilometres and is worth taking on the return if Chikmagalur or Horanadu is on your itinerary.
It is possible and we do run it, but it makes for a long day: fourteen to fifteen hours door to door with roughly seven hours of driving each way and only a few hours at the temple. Leaving Bangalore by 4:00 AM and returning late is the usual shape. Most groups prefer one night, which costs very little given the trust accommodation and free meals, and turns a tiring day into a relaxed trip with time for the Bahubali hill and the museums.
Tempo Traveller fares around Rs 15,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For the Laksha Deepotsava and other peak dates a higher advance may be required.
The 12 seater suits nine or ten passengers with luggage, and the 14, 16 and 18 seaters follow the same rule of leaving a row spare. Our advice on this route in particular is to size up rather than fill every seat, because the Shiradi ghat section is more comfortable with room to move. Below eight passengers a car is cheaper; above eighteen we move you to a mini bus. Share your headcount and we will tell you honestly which is the better value.
Traditional attire is required at the Manjunatha Swamy temple, and mobile phones and cameras are not permitted inside, so brief your group before arrival rather than at the gate. The free meal service is genuine, runs every day at scale, and is offered to every visitor without question. The temple trust also provides accommodation for pilgrims. Both meals and darshan run to fixed timings, so tell us your plan at booking and we will time the driving around them.
Yes, and most groups book it that way. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, covering Dharmasthala, Southadka, Kukke Subramanya and, on longer itineraries, Udupi, Kollur and the coast, returning up the Charmadi ghat through Horanadu or Sringeri if you want the Malnad circuit as well. If you are travelling for Sarpa Samskara or Ashlesha Bali at Kukke, tell us at enquiry stage, since those rituals are booked ahead and start early and the day has to be planned backwards from them.
No. The route stays entirely within Karnataka, so no interstate permit or border tax applies, which makes billing on this corridor simpler and cheaper than our Kerala and Tamil Nadu routes. Permits become relevant only if your itinerary extends beyond the state. Tolls and parking are still billed at actuals as on every route.
We do not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle we run is seated configuration with push-back seats. The Shiradi ghat has been concreted and is in far better condition than its old reputation suggests, but it remains a forested descent that deserves a steady pace, and it can be slow in heavy monsoon. We schedule departures so the ghat is driven in daylight, and where a group wants to split the journey we plan a halt at Hassan or Sakleshpur rather than driving it at night.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, passenger count and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller booking and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
