Sharadamba Temple and the Matha
The Sharada Peetham has functioned continuously since the eighth century and is the first of the four mathas Adi Shankara established, with an unbroken line of acharyas. The Sharadamba temple is its principal shrine, the goddess seated on the Sri Chakra in a gold-plated image. The complex on the Tunga includes the matha buildings, a Sanskrit college and the ghats. Visit in the morning or for the evening worship. Dress conventions apply, and seva or special darshan arrangements are made through the matha rather than through any agent.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Yediyur
Siddhalingeshwara Temple Town
The route leaves Bangalore northwest onto NH 75, and the first stretch to Nelamangala is the only part of the day that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past the junction before 7:00 AM, since Mysore, Mangalore, Hassan and Tumkur traffic all diverges there and it builds fast on weekend mornings. Beyond Nelamangala the highway opens up properly. Kunigal is known for the stud farm, one of the oldest horse breeding establishments in India and associated with Tipu Sultan. Yediyur, twenty-five kilometres on, has a lakeside Siddhalingeshwara temple and the best cluster of highway restaurants on this road - it is the standard breakfast halt and worth using properly, since the options thin after Hassan.

Hassan
Base of the Hoysala Belt
Eighty-five kilometres of good four-lane highway as the route crosses into Hassan district and the landscape shifts into plantation country - coconut, areca and paddy, greener and more enclosed than the open country behind. Channarayapatna is the junction for Shravanabelagola, where the Gommateshwara monolith stands on Vindhyagiri twelve kilometres off the highway. Hassan is the district headquarters and the base for the entire Hoysala circuit. For travellers with time, Belur and Halebidu are within reach and both were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2023 - Belur sits directly on the road ahead, which makes it the easier of the two to build into this journey.

Chikmagalur
Coffee Cradle of India
Belur comes up thirty-five kilometres beyond Hassan and it is the best short stop on this route. The Chennakeshava temple, commissioned in 1117 and worked on for over a century, carries bracket figures around the outer wall that are among the finest sculpture in India. An hour covers it; ninety minutes covers it properly. Chikmagalur follows, and the country changes again - the Baba Budan hills rise to the north and coffee replaces everything else. This is where Indian coffee began, when Baba Budan is said to have carried seven seeds back from Yemen and planted them on the hill that now bears his name. The town is the centre of the Karnataka coffee trade and a substantial share of what India exports is grown within sight of this road.

Sringeri
First Matha of Adi Shankara
Eighty-five kilometres west and south through the coffee belt and into proper Ghat country - the road narrows, the estates give way to forest in stretches, and it winds continuously without ever becoming a serious ghat. Balehonnur, on the Bhadra, is the seat of the Rambhapuri Peetha, one of the five principal Veerashaiva monastic centres, which most travellers pass without knowing. Sringeri sits in a bend of the Tunga with the matha complex on the bank and the town around it. It is small, green and quiet, and the temple complex is the centre of everything. Accommodation includes matha guest houses as well as hotels, and the former book directly through the matha. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Sringeri by around 1:00 PM, in good time for the evening worship.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Sringeri Route
Every quotation is built around what you actually need rather than a fixed menu. The four structures below describe how we typically shape tempo traveller hire bangalore enquiries on this corridor.
Pilgrimage Circuit Package
The booking that makes the most of the distance, and the one we build most often. Sringeri and Horanadu are forty kilometres apart and almost always done together; add Kalasa, and then Kollur Mookambika ninety kilometres on, and you have a three or four day circuit that many groups extend to Murudeshwar and Dharmasthala. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, which is the only arrangement that works when days are shaped by pooja timings rather than a schedule. We plan the driving around whatever sequence your family follows rather than imposing one. A sringeri kollur murudeshwar tour package quoted this way carries a stated allowance for the local running rather than a bare point-to-point figure.
Family and Two-Day Package
The most common booking on this route. Seven to eight hours each way makes a single-day round trip fifteen hours of driving for half a day of temple, and we would rather talk you into the second night than take the one-day booking and have the group arrive home at midnight. Two days gives you the temple complex properly, the Tunga in the early morning, and Sirimane and Kigga on the second day. Planning is around pooja timings and around elders, who make up a good share of the parties on this corridor. Mutt guesthouses are the closest accommodation and are simple; there are mid-range hotels a little further out. Child seats can be arranged with notice.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking — devotee associations, community groups and college trips, which this route generates steadily. Point to point, no frills, clean vehicle and a verified driver, in the 8 to 14 seater band. Our tempo traveller rate per km in bangalore is at its lowest in this tier, and across a 330-kilometre run with no interstate permit to pay, the total works out lower than most outstation routes of comparable distance. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only. Maintenance schedules and driver vetting are identical across every tier, and on ghat roads with a full load that is not something we would treat as negotiable.
Luxury and Executive Package
Wider pushback seats, more legroom, better sound insulation and premium interiors, in a 9 to 14 seater configuration where seat count has been traded for comfort. On a route with sustained winding sections beyond Chikmagalur the difference is felt rather than admired, and it is the tier senior family groups usually choose for a milestone pilgrimage or a first visit with elderly parents. This covers our luxury tempo traveller bangalore range. For a further step up in the same seat band, the luxury urbania rental bangalore fleet is a premium alternative that also handles the narrow stretches near Sirimane comfortably.
Our Tempo Traveller Fleet in Bangalore
Our 9 seater tempo traveller bangalore, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater configurations cover the full band, all air conditioned with pushback seating. We run a complete range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, the core vehicle for this route
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for devotee associations and larger pilgrimage parties
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches; beyond Chikmagalur we advise on size rather than assuming the largest vehicle fits
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Fortuner and Commuter through Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with pushback seats, which is why we plan this route as a daytime drive with an early start rather than an overnight run. On a road that finishes with ghat sections through forest, arriving in daylight is a safety position as much as a comfort one, and it is the same reason we ask groups returning via Agumbe to start back by early afternoon.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and permit where applicable — not applicable on this route, since Sringeri is in Karnataka
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns, and we factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay.
Three points matter specifically on this corridor. Temple offerings, sevas and any accommodation booked through the Sringeri Mutt are arranged and paid by you directly — we handle transport and time the day around the pooja schedule, nothing more. There is no interstate permit on this route, which is worth stating plainly because most of our outstation quotes carry one and its absence here is a genuine saving. And local running on a circuit is substantial once Horanadu, Kalasa or Kollur enter the plan, so our package quotes carry a stated allowance rather than leaving it open.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Sringeri Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to sringeri distance is over 330 kilometres, and the drive takes 7 to 8 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. The route runs on NH 75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal and Hassan, then west through Belur and Chikmagalur into the coffee country. The Agumbe ghat route is the scenic alternative, often used on the return leg for fresh scenery. Leaving Bangalore at 5:00 AM puts most groups in Sringeri by around 1:00 PM, with the whole afternoon free for the temple and the river.
You can, and we will quote it if you want it, but we would rather you did not. Seven to eight hours each way is fifteen hours of driving for a temple complex that deserves half a day on its own, and it means leaving before dawn and getting home near midnight — hard on anyone, and harder on the elders who make up a good share of the parties on this route. Two days gives you the temple properly, the Tunga at first light, and Sirimane and Kigga on the second day, and the difference in cost is much smaller than the difference in the trip.
Tempo Traveller fare starts around Rs 17,000. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific tempo traveller variant on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes, your confirmation carries the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration and full billing breakdown in writing, and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Navratri and the Rathotsava a higher advance may be requested.
We can tell you the general shape — poojas run from dawn, with midday and evening observances, and special rituals on Fridays and through Navratri and Guru Purnima — but we deliberately do not publish a schedule here, because it changes and anything specific would go stale. Check the official Sringeri Sharada Peetham site close to your dates. What we do is plan the day around whatever timings you confirm, and our drivers know the local position well enough to advise on the morning. Shoulders and knees covered, shoes off inside.
Add Horanadu. It is forty kilometres from Sringeri through coffee and forest, the drive is one of the better stretches in the district, and the Annapoorneshwari temple's tradition of feeding every visitor is worth experiencing. Sringeri, Horanadu and Kalasa make a full and unhurried second day. Kollur Mookambika is a further ninety kilometres and turns the trip into a three or four day circuit, often extended to Murudeshwar or Dharmasthala. If any of that is in your plan, say so at the quotation stage, because it changes the route from Hassan onward and it changes the kilometres materially.
Our fleet covers 8, 9, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater configurations, all air conditioned with pushback seating. Under eight passengers a car is usually more economical and easier to park in Sringeri's narrow streets around the temple. Above eighteen we move you to a 12 to 24 seater mini bus, and above twenty-four to a 27 to 50 seater bus — though beyond Chikmagalur the road narrows and we will advise on size rather than simply quoting the largest vehicle that fits your headcount. Book one size above your group if you are travelling for three or four days on a circuit.
No. Sringeri is in Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, so the whole journey stays within the state and no interstate permit applies. It is worth mentioning because almost every other outstation route we run from Bangalore carries one, and its absence here is a real saving that shows up in the quote. If you extend to Kollur, Murudeshwar or Gokarna the route still stays in Karnataka, so the same holds.
Yes, and on this route it is the arrangement that makes the trip work. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout — the temple complex, the Tunga steps, Malahanikareshwara, Sirimane Falls and Kigga, and any onward leg to Horanadu, Kalasa or Kollur. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance and night halt charges. Share your day-wise itinerary at the enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one number rather than letting the local running surface at settlement.
No sleeper service. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper buses, and all our vehicles are seated configuration with pushback seats. On this route we plan a daytime drive with an early start rather than an overnight run, which on a road finishing with ghat sections through forest is a safety position as much as a comfort one. On insurance, we do not cover passenger insurance. All vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and every driver holds a valid commercial licence, but personal travel cover should be arranged independently. For a large devotee-association group a block policy is usually inexpensive.
October to March, when the weather is pleasant and the ghat roads are at their best. July to September brings the monsoon, which is when this country is at its most beautiful and also when the ghat sections near Agumbe and Charmadi can be slippery and occasionally closed — travellable, but worth checking against conditions rather than assuming. April is warm. The dates to plan around are Navratri and the Sharada Navaratri Brahmotsavam, Guru Purnima and the annual Rathotsava, when the town fills entirely. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, group size and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller rent bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
