Adi Shakthi Annapoorneshwari Temple
The temple stands on the Bhadra with hills on every side, and the goddess is depicted standing on a lotus with a vessel of food and a ladle. The present structure was substantially rebuilt in the early 1970s and the complex now includes dining halls, accommodation blocks and a large hall, all organised around the annadana. Visit for a meal as well as darshan - they are part of the same thing here. Timings for both worship and the sittings run to the temple schedule; confirm for your date, and dress traditionally.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Hassan
Base of the Hoysala Belt
The route leaves Bangalore northwest onto NH 75, and the Nelamangala junction is the only part of the day that depends on timing rather than road - our drivers aim to be past it before 7:00 AM, since four highway corridors diverge there and weekend traffic builds fast. Beyond it the highway opens up. Kunigal has one of the oldest stud farms in India; Yediyur, twenty-five kilometres on, has a lakeside Siddhalingeshwara temple and the best breakfast cluster on this road, which is worth using properly since options thin later. Channarayapatna is the Shravanabelagola junction, and Hassan is the base of the Hoysala circuit.

Chikmagalur
Coffee Cradle of India
Belur comes up thirty-five kilometres beyond Hassan and is the best short stop on this route - the Chennakeshava temple, commissioned in 1117 and worked on for over a century, carries bracket figures among the finest sculpture in India, and it was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2023. Ninety minutes covers it properly. Chikmagalur follows and the country changes - the Baba Budan hills rise to the north and coffee replaces everything else. Indian coffee began on that hill, where Baba Budan is said to have planted seven seeds carried back from Yemen. Beyond Chikmagalur the road turns west into the Malnad proper and the driving changes with it.

Kalasa
Temple Town on the Bhadra
A hundred and ten kilometres west through the heart of the Malnad, and this is where the average speed drops. The road winds continuously through estate and forest, climbing and dropping, with coffee under shade trees on both sides and very little open ground. Mudigere is a working coffee town; Kottigehara, beyond it, is where the Charmadi ghat road turns west toward Mangalore down one of the more dramatic descents in Karnataka. Kalasa sits on the Bhadra with the Kalaseshwara temple above the river, one of the Pancha Kshetras of this region and a quiet place by comparison with what follows. It has more accommodation than Horanadu and is where a good number of groups actually stay.

Horanadu
Annadana Kshetra of the Malnad
Ten kilometres of winding road through estate country along the Bhadra, and it takes twenty minutes rather than the ten the distance suggests. The hills close in and the last stretch runs through forest and coffee with the river below. Horanadu is very small - the temple complex is most of it, with dining halls, accommodation blocks and a handful of shops around the gate. That scale is part of the character: this is a temple town in the literal sense rather than a town with a temple in it. Accommodation is largely run by the trust and booked directly with them. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Horanadu by around 1:30 PM, which on most days catches an afternoon sitting.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Horanadu Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams heading into the Malnad for offsites and annual outings, frequently combining Horanadu with a Chikkamagaluru plantation stay. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate tempo traveller bangalore vehicle stays with your team across the Kalasa, Horanadu and Sringeri legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family Package
The dominant booking on this corridor. Two or three families travelling together, or a small association of twelve to eighteen, covering Horanadu, Kalasa and Sringeri over three to four days and often adding Kollur. Itineraries are planned around darshan and annadana timings rather than driving hours, and the driver is briefed to expect long waits. Luggage capacity matters on a multi-temple trip where the group carries offerings and changes of clothing, and a 17 seater takes comfortably what three cars would struggle with.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides whether the trip happens, which describes many association and community bookings. Non-AC 9 to 14 seater tempo travellers, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The tempo traveller per km rate bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 680 kilometre round trip the saving across a full vehicle is real. Non-AC is a sensible choice on this route in any case, since the Malnad stays cool for most of the year and windows open onto some of the best scenery in the state. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury Package
Our premium tempo travellers, with fewer and wider push-back seats, more legroom, better cabin insulation and upgraded interiors. On a route where 170 kilometres wind through estate country, better seating and suspension are practical rather than decorative. Suited to senior management travel and milestone family trips. For a further step up, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration covers the same circuit with a monocoque body and a noticeably smoother ride on the Kalasa stretch.
Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller rental bangalore fleet runs 9, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations. Every category operates from the same Bangalore base, so a change in headcount after booking usually means a change of vehicle rather than a new booking.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium alternative on the same circuit
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, the largest vehicle that handles every stop in the circuit comfortably
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, which reach Horanadu but are restricted on the smaller approaches
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle is seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why the Horanadu run is planned as an early-morning daytime drive with proper meal halts rather than an overnight haul. On unlit estate roads with monsoon fog and wildlife about after dark, arriving in daylight with a rested driver is the only sensible approach, and the drive itself is half of what people come for.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border — not applicable on the direct Horanadu route, which stays within Karnataka
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the tempo traveller leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. That distance is already built into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you settle.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the entire fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Horanadu Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to horanadu distance by road is approximately 340 kilometres via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Belur, Mudigere and Kalasa, which is the route we run. That is seven and a half to eight and a half hours of driving before meal halts. The first 170 kilometres to Hassan are fast four-lane; the remaining 170 are Malnad road and take noticeably longer for the same distance. A 5:30 AM departure gets most groups to Horanadu by early to mid afternoon.
Tempo Traveller fare starts around Rs 19,000. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
No. The direct route stays entirely within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit or state tax on this trip, which keeps the billing simpler than on our Kerala and Tamil Nadu corridors. If your itinerary extends beyond the state, that permit appears as a separate line in the written quote before you confirm.
Yes, and this is the main practical reason groups choose it here. Horanadu itself is served by large buses, but Ambatheertha, the Hanumanagundi approach, the lanes around Kalasa and several of the smaller shrines near Sringeri are narrow enough that a full-size coach cannot get in. A tempo traveller reaches all of them, so the itinerary does not need re-planning around the vehicle and there is no second local hire to arrange.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking and holds the specific vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Navaratri and other festival dates commit early across the Malnad, so for those a higher advance may be requested.
Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same vehicle and driver remain with you throughout, covering Horanadu, Kalasa at ten kilometres, Ambatheertha, Sringeri at fifty and Hanumanagundi at forty, plus any onward leg to Kollur, Udupi or Chikkamagaluru. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one figure.
Two days covers Horanadu alone, up on day one and back on day two, though that is a great deal of driving for a single darshan. Three days is the standard booking and brings Kalasa and Sringeri comfortably in. Four days adds Kudremukh, Hanumanagundi or Chikkamagaluru without rushing, and five allows Kollur and the coast. The roads between these stops are slow, so each extra night buys sightseeing rather than travel.
October to February is the most comfortable window, with clear air, good visibility toward Kudremukh and waterfalls still strong after the monsoon. Navaratri is the largest festival period and the most rewarding time to be there, and also the hardest to arrange. June to September brings very heavy Malnad rain: the landscape is at its most striking, but roads are slow, fog is frequent and ghat sections occasionally close after landslides.
Both handle these roads without difficulty and both reach every stop in the circuit. The Urbania is built on a monocoque frame with independent front suspension and standing headroom in the aisle, so it rides noticeably smoother over the 170 kilometres of estate road, and it costs more per day. The tempo traveller carries a wider seating range, up to eighteen, and is the value choice. For cost-led group bookings we recommend the tempo traveller; for older travellers, the Urbania. Ask for both quotes together.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, passenger count and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours. Confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our tempo traveller bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
