Places to Visit in Anantapur

Lepakshi and the Hanging Pillar

Lepakshi and the Hanging Pillar

Around fifteen kilometres off the highway just across the Andhra border, the Veerabhadra temple at Lepakshi is one of the finest sixteenth-century Vijayanagara sites anywhere. Its celebrated hanging pillar rests fractionally clear of the floor - a cloth can be passed beneath it - and the ceilings carry the largest surviving mural on a single panel in India, showing the fourteen incarnations of Shiva in vegetable dye. Outside stands a monolithic Nandi carved from a single granite boulder, among the largest in the country. Visit in the morning. Allow ninety minutes for the temple and the Nandi, and it is easily the best short detour on any route out of Bangalore.

Puttaparthi and Prasanthi Nilayam

Puttaparthi and Prasanthi Nilayam

Around forty kilometres east of the highway near Penukonda, Puttaparthi was a small village until it became the base of Sathya Sai Baba, and it is now a town built around the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram with visitors from across the world. The complex includes the samadhi, the Sai Kulwant Hall, the Chaitanya Jyoti Museum and a planetarium, alongside the super speciality hospital and university that were established here. Visit for the ashram, which operates its own timings and conventions - dress modestly, expect silence in the main areas, and check the current darshan and visiting arrangements before you travel, as they are set by the trust.

Penukonda Fort

Penukonda Fort

When Hampi fell in 1565 the Vijayanagara court retreated here, and Penukonda served as the capital for decades afterward - which is why a small town in southern Anantapur holds a fortress of this scale. The Gagan Mahal, a two-storey Indo-Islamic palace, survives in good condition, alongside temples, the Sher Khan mosque and the Babayya Dargah, with fortifications climbing the hill above. Visit for the Gagan Mahal and the sense of a capital in exile. It is a short detour off the highway and takes about an hour, and it pairs naturally with Lepakshi into a single Vijayanagara day.

Thimmamma Marrimanu

Thimmamma Marrimanu

Near Kadiri, around a hundred kilometres east of Anantapur, stands a banyan tree whose canopy is recognised as the largest of any single tree in the world - it covers something in the order of five acres, with thousands of aerial roots that have become trunks, so that walking into it feels less like approaching a tree than entering a forest that happens to be one organism. A small shrine to Thimmamma sits beneath it. Visit if you have a full day and an interest in the genuinely unusual; it is a long drive from the city for a single sight, but there is nothing else like it in India.

Tadipatri and the Vijayanagara Temples

Tadipatri and the Vijayanagara Temples

Tadipatri, around fifty kilometres northeast of Anantapur on the Penna river, holds two temples that ought to be far better known than they are. The Bugga Ramalingeswara temple has gopurams covered in carved stone of remarkable density, with the sanctum sitting below river level and a spring feeding it. The Chintala Venkataramana temple has a stone chariot and carved pillars of a quality that stands comparison with Hampi. Visit for the carving. These are among the finest Vijayanagara works surviving anywhere and they receive almost no visitors, which is both a shame and the reason to go.

Gooty, Rayadurgam and Kadiri

Gooty, Rayadurgam and Kadiri

Three more forts and a temple for anyone spending real time in the district. Gooty, on the highway north of Anantapur, is a Vijayanagara and later Maratha hill fort on a steep granite outcrop, held by Murari Rao and taken by Hyder Ali after a long siege. Rayadurgam, to the west, is a substantial hill fort with a series of temples on the ascent. Kadiri holds the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, a significant Vijayanagara foundation with a well-known annual brahmotsavam. Visit any of these if the district rather than the city is your destination - collectively they make Anantapur one of the more rewarding fort circuits in South India.

Bus Packages for the Anantapur Route

Four package shapes cover almost every enquiry, all quoted in writing and billed garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours.

Corporate and Industrial Package

The dominant booking here. Plant visits, supplier audits, training batches and engineering teams travelling to Penukonda and the ancillary belt. Executive AC 27 or 30 seater with recliner seats, USB charging and an LED screen, from your office gate in Electronic City, Whitefield or the ORR corridor, or from the airport for inbound teams. GPS tracked, with a proforma invoice ahead for PO approval. Recurring movements run as monthly contract shuttles under our employee transportation services Bangalore terms.

Pilgrimage and Family Package

For groups travelling to Puttaparthi or covering the district temples, and for family and wedding movement between the two states. A 32 to 45 seater standard AC coach with a full luggage bay and a driver briefed to hold the vehicle throughout the visit. On a road this short, most run as single-day or one-night trips.

Budget and Institutional Package

The lowest cost per head, for schools and colleges. A 45 or 50 seater standard AC at Rs 48 per km spreads to roughly Rs 480 a person on a 450 km round trip, and Lepakshi, Penukonda and Thimmamma Marrimanu make a good history and biology field trip inside one day. For school excursion bus rental Bangalore and college trip bus rental bangalore we supply driver verification and inspection records as standard.

Luxury Package

A 45 seater Volvo or Benz with air suspension, dual-zone climate control, premium recliners and per-seat charging, for client-facing travel and senior leadership. On a four-hour run this tier is about arriving fresh for a meeting rather than surviving the journey. Volvo bus rental Bangalore should be confirmed ahead for wedding season.

Billing, Inclusions and Exclusions

The kilometre meter starts when the coach leaves our garage and stops when it returns, so pickup and drop legs sit inside the quoted number. Nothing is added at trip end that was not in the written quote.

•       GST as applicable

•       Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours run, garage to garage

Points to Note Before You Book

•       An advance of 20 percent of the total fare confirms the booking and holds the vehicle for your dates.

•       The Andhra Pradesh permit is arranged by us. The cost is a pass-through, billed at actuals and shown in the quote before you pay the advance.

•       Driver night halt charges apply only on multi-day trips and are itemised where relevant.

•       Plant access, ashram arrangements, monument entry and solar park permissions are organised by the group directly.

How to Book a Bus for Anantapur

Four steps, usually under five minutes on WhatsApp.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•       Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com, available 24 hours.

•       Share your travel date and Bengaluru pickup point: office, tech park, campus, temple or the airport terminal.

•       Give the total group size and preferred tier. On this route any size runs equally well, so choose for comfort.

•       Tell us whether it is a same-day return or an overnight, and send the plant, ashram or site address for local running.

•       For recurring plant movements, ask about monthly contract terms rather than trip-by-trip hire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•       A written quote reaches you on WhatsApp or email within two hours.

•       It itemises the per-km rate, driver allowance, toll estimate, the Andhra Pradesh permit, any late-running driver bata, and GST.

•       No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•       Corporate clients can request a proforma invoice for PO-based approval, or comparison quotes across two tiers.

Step 3 — Confirm and Pay the Advance

•       Confirm on WhatsApp or by phone once the quote works for you.

•       A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking and locks the vehicle to your date.

•       Pay by UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, or credit and debit card through a payment link. Receipt within 30 minutes.

•       Your confirmation carries driver name and mobile, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup point and billing breakdown, in writing.

•       Short notice is more workable on this route than on most. Call us even for next-day requirements.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Coach Arrive Early

•       The coach reaches your pickup point 15 minutes before departure, with the exact gate confirmed for tech-park groups.

•       The vehicle arrives clean, sanitised, fuelled and GPS-active, and the driver calls 30 minutes ahead.

•       Through the day the driver handles tolls, the check post and rest stops.

•       At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance, with extra kilometres or hours at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with group size, travel date, pickup point and destination.

Payment Methods

•       UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI. Fastest, instant confirmation, and our recommendation for the advance.

•       Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS or RTGS, preferred for large corporate bookings. IMPS is instant, NEFT slower.

•       Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay by payment link. Valid for advance and full payment.

•       Net banking — All major Indian banks, by link on WhatsApp or email. Preferred for corporate PO approvals.

•       Cash — Accepted for the balance at trip end with a receipt. The advance must be digital.

•       Corporate credit — 30-day terms for signed accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing across all routes.

This ladder is confirmed in writing at booking. No hidden conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Anantapur Bus

Three and a half to four hours for about 200 km, including one halt and the border check post. The road is four-lane divided highway the whole way with no ghats or forest sections, so the time is predictable in a way most of our interstate routes are not.

Yes, comfortably, and this is one of the few interstate routes where we actively recommend it. Leave at 6:00 AM and a group can complete a plant visit or a Lepakshi trip and be back the same evening. A late finish attracts driver bata after 9:45 PM, shown in the quote.

Bus fares around Rs 16,280. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Yes. Unlike our hill routes, terrain imposes no limit here — the road is four-lane throughout with no ghats or hairpins. We size the vehicle to your headcount and comfort rather than to the road.

Yes. Recurring runs to the Penukonda industrial belt and surrounding ancillary units are handled as monthly contracts under our employee transport terms, with GPS tracking, consolidated invoicing and a named coordinator. Ask for contract terms if the movement repeats.

It is the best addition to this route and costs very little. Lepakshi sits about fifteen kilometres off the highway near Hindupur, roughly 120 km out, and a group needs about two hours. Many corporate bookings build it into the return leg.

We do. It is arranged as part of the booking, with the cost billed at actuals and shown in the written quote before you pay the advance. It appears as an exclusion because it is a pass-through cost, not because it is your responsibility to organise.

Included: base fare, all fuel and the driver allowance. Billed separately: tolls and parking at actuals, inter-state tax for Andhra Pradesh, extra driver bata past 9:45 PM, and GST. Final rental is on total kilometres and hours, garage to garage.

Twenty percent of the total fare, paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card link. The receipt arrives within 30 minutes with driver and vehicle details. The balance is settled at trip end.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passengers under a company insurance policy. Vehicles carry statutory motor cover and drivers are licensed and police-verified, but groups wanting personal accident or travel cover should arrange it independently.
