Places to Visit in Kurnool

Konda Reddy Fort and the City
The Konda Reddy Buruju is the landmark of Kurnool - a tall watchtower and gateway from the Vijayanagara period standing in the middle of the modern city, named after a chieftain said to have been imprisoned in it. It is a modest monument in itself and the interest is in what it represents: this was a fortified town on the Tungabhadra long before it briefly became a state capital. The city also holds the Birla Mandir and the riverfront where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra. Visit for an hour on an arrival evening; Kurnool is a working city and its interest is as a base rather than a sight.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Kodikonda
Border Town of the Deccan
This is the easiest exit from Bangalore of any route we operate - NH 44 runs north past the international airport on six lanes from the start, and the airport traffic thins beyond Devanahalli. Our drivers aim to be past the airport before 6:15 AM on a circuit departure. Devanahalli holds the fort where Tipu Sultan was born in 1751, standing a short distance off the highway and almost entirely ignored by the traffic. Chikkaballapur follows with the Nandi Hills to the west. Bagepalli is the last Karnataka town, and the Andhra border comes at Kodikonda with the checkpost and toll plaza - the interstate permit is presented here, arranged by us in advance so it is a formality.

Anantapur
Groundnut Capital of India
The Lepakshi turn comes up shortly after the border, around fifteen kilometres off the highway, and it is the best detour available on any road out of Bangalore - the hanging pillar, the great ceiling murals and the monolithic Nandi, in ninety minutes. On a Kurnool circuit trip it is worth building into the outbound leg rather than hoping to fit it on the way back. Penukonda follows, the fortress the Vijayanagara empire retreated to after Hampi fell, now also the site of a major automobile plant that has reshaped the local economy. Anantapur, at just over two hundred kilometres, is the groundnut capital of India and the natural breakfast halt on this route, with good options on the bypass. Beyond it the highway continues north through increasingly dry country.
Gooty
Hill Fort of Rayalaseema
Sixty kilometres of continuing excellent divided highway across open Rayalaseema. This is dry, hot country - the district is among the least watered in India - and the landscape is granite outcrop and scrub, with the occasional irrigated patch marking a tank or a borewell belt. Gooty announces itself with its fort, a Vijayanagara and later Maratha stronghold built across a steep granite outcrop directly above the road. Murari Rao held it and Hyder Ali took it after a long siege; the walls climb the rock in stages and the whole thing is visible from the highway. It is a worthwhile hour for anyone with time in hand, and it is one of three substantial forts on this corridor along with Penukonda and Rayadurgam.

Kurnool
First Capital of Andhra State
Ninety-five kilometres of fast highway north. Dhone is a railway town where the lines toward Guntakal, Kurnool and Nandyal meet, and it is the sort of place whose importance is entirely invisible from the road. Beyond it the country begins to change - the Nallamala hills appear on the eastern horizon and the land drops toward the Tungabhadra basin. Kurnool sits where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra, with the Konda Reddy fort tower in the middle of the modern city. It was the capital of Andhra State from 1953 to 1956 before the move to Hyderabad, and it retains a certain civic weight from that. Practically it is a substantial city with the hotels, hospitals, fuel and services a circuit trip needs, and it is the base from which Belum, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Ahobilam and Alampur are all reachable. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Kurnool by around 10:30 AM.

Bus Packages for the Bangalore to Kurnool Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore companies with operations or clients in the Orvakal and Kurnool industrial belt, and for teams travelling for plant visits, dealer meets and offsites. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The Andhra Pradesh permit is arranged and itemised so it clears reimbursement without a query. The same corporate bus rental bangalore coach stays with your team across the Kurnool, Srisailam and Nandyal legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice, and pickup can be staged across two or three tech park gates on the way north. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common booking on this corridor. Temple committees, samithi groups and extended families travelling a Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti and Alampur circuit over three to five days, often with a vow tied to a specific date. Designed around temple timings and a driver who understands that a group will spend three hours inside a complex and needs a waiting coach. Luggage capacity is the deciding advantage on a multi-day circuit, and there is room for the things pilgrimage groups actually carry — bhajan instruments, prasadam, offerings and cooked food. Alampur is an easy addition across the river, and Mantralayam is about ninety kilometres west of Kurnool for groups extending the circuit.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Non-AC 27 to 41 seater coaches, point to point, no frills, clean vehicle, verified driver — suited to college departments, community trips and pilgrimage associations travelling in numbers through the year. The bus rate per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 360 kilometre one-way run with a full group the saving is substantial. One honest caveat on this route: Rayalaseema is genuinely hot from March to June, and on those dates the AC tier is worth the difference. The budget tier is about vehicle specification, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury and Volvo Package
Volvo and Benz multi-axle coaches with wider push-back seats, better suspension, stronger air conditioning, sound insulation and premium interiors. Across seven hours each way the difference is real rather than cosmetic, and on the Nallamala ghat section to Srisailam it is the suspension that earns its keep. Suited to senior management travel, MICE groups, milestone family pilgrimages and any group with elders travelling. Our volvo bus rental bangalore tier covers volvo luxury bus requirements in 41 to 50 seater configuration. For premium small-group travel on the same route, luxury urbania rental bangalore in 13 to 17 seater configuration is the alternative.
Our Bus Fleet in Bangalore
Our fleet covers 27, 35, 41, 45 and 50 seater configurations in AC and non-AC, including Volvo and Benz coaches. We run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, the core vehicle for this route
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for mid-sized groups on the same corridor
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller parties
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On a route of this length that is worth knowing at enquiry stage, because it shapes the itinerary: rather than driving through the night, we plan a daylight run with an overnight hotel halt at Kurnool. It is more comfortable and considerably safer.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and the Andhra Pradesh permit for the Karnataka border crossing
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Two items matter more than usual here. The Andhra Pradesh permit applies because the journey crosses the state line at Kodikonda, and it is billed at actuals rather than folded into the rate. And on multi-day circuits the driver night halt charge applies for each night the coach stays out — we show it separately in the quote so the whole trip is priced as a single approved figure.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Bus Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kurnool Bus
The bangalore to kurnool distance by road is approximately 360 kilometres, running north on NH44 through Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur, Bagepalli, Kodikonda, Penukonda, Anantapur and Gooty. A 27 to 50 seater coach covers it in 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes including a breakfast halt at Chikkaballapur and lunch at Anantapur. The highway is four to six lanes for almost the entire distance, which makes it one of the faster long routes out of Bangalore. Leaving between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM puts you in Kurnool by mid-afternoon.
Yes. Kurnool is in Andhra Pradesh and the route crosses the state line at the Kodikonda check post around 125 kilometres from Bangalore, so a valid interstate permit is required for the coach. It is billed at actuals as a separate line item rather than absorbed into the base rate, and we arrange all documentation before departure so there is nothing for you to do. If your itinerary includes Alampur, which lies across the Tungabhadra in Telangana, an additional permit may apply — tell us at enquiry stage and it goes into the quote.
Bus fares around Rs 28,060. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific bus on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Maha Shivaratri at Srisailam, Karthika Masam and large corporate bookings above Rs 50,000, a higher advance may be required.
Yes, and this is the itinerary most groups book. A comfortable version runs four days: Bangalore to Kurnool on day one, Yaganti and Mahanandi on day two, Srisailam on day three with the night there or back at Kurnool, and the return on day four. Belum Caves, Ahobilam and Alampur can be added if you have five days. The distances look modest on a map but the Nallamala ghat section to Srisailam is slow, and Ahobilam involves walking, so plan more time than the kilometres suggest. Share your day-wise plan and we quote the whole circuit as one number.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route we plan a daylight run with an overnight hotel halt at Kurnool rather than driving through the night, which is more comfortable and considerably safer over 360 kilometres. For maximum comfort on the drive itself, the Volvo and Benz tier with wider seats and better suspension is what we recommend.
Our fleet covers 27, 35, 41, 45 and 50 seater coaches in AC and non-AC, including Volvo and Benz. For twelve to twenty-four passengers a mini bus works out cheaper than a 35 seater bus rental bangalore booking, and below twelve an 8 to 18 seater tempo traveller is the economical option. Above fifty we allocate two coaches with coordinated departure. Tell us your headcount and the length of the itinerary — luggage volume matters more on a four-day circuit than people expect — and we will recommend the size.
Yes, and this is how most groups book it. The same coach and driver stay with you throughout, covering Konda Reddy Fort, Oravakallu, Belum Caves, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Srisailam and Alampur, plus any onward legs. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance and night halt charges. Coaches park comfortably at all the main sites, though at Ahobilam the upper shrines involve walking that no vehicle can shorten.
October to February is the window to aim for. Rayalaseema is one of the hottest and driest regions in South India and temperatures from March to June regularly make sightseeing unpleasant, particularly at open sites like Oravakallu and Gooty. The post-monsoon months bring the Tungabhadra up and the Nallamala forest into leaf. Karthika Masam in November and December is the busiest pilgrimage period at Srisailam and Mahanandi, so book several weeks ahead for those dates. Belum Caves stay at a constant temperature year round and are a good refuge on a hot day.
Cancelling more than 7 days before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 4 and 7 days the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 48 hours and 4 days it is 25 percent, and between 24 and 48 hours it is 50 percent. Multi-day Kurnool and Srisailam circuits need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and long-route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com — our bangalore bus booking and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
