Sai Kulwant Hall is the main assembly space and houses the Mahasamadhi, and darshan and bhajan sessions run morning and evening. Visitors are asked to dress modestly, observe silence in the prayer areas, and respect restrictions on photography and mobile phones. Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.
Chikkaballapur and Nandi Hills
Source of the Chitravathi
Nandi Hills rises to the west, one of the best-known sunrise points in South India and the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan. It is also a watershed: five rivers are said to rise here, and one of them is the Chitravathi, the same river that runs below Puttaparthi. There is a pleasing symmetry in following it upstream to its destination. Chikkaballapur town on the highway has the most reliable breakfast stops on the route, with idli, vada and filter coffee from around six.

Lepakshi
The Hanging Pillar Temple
Roughly fifteen kilometres off the highway near Hindupur, Lepakshi is the finest detour on this route and adds barely an hour. The sixteenth-century Veerabhadra temple holds the celebrated hanging pillar, which clears the floor by a fraction and has puzzled visitors for four centuries, along with some of the best surviving Vijayanagara mural painting anywhere. Outside sits the enormous monolithic Nandi, carved from a single granite boulder and the largest of its kind in India. The name comes from the Ramayana - Le Pakshi, rise, O bird, spoken to the wounded Jatayu.
Penukonda
Ghanagiri, the Vijayanagara Capital
Penukonda was the second capital of the Vijayanagara empire after the fall of Hampi, and the hill above the town, once called Ghanagiri, still carries the fort walls, watchtowers and temple ruins. The Gagan Mahal palace and the Sher Khan mosque sit in the town below, evidence of the layered rule the region passed through. Penukonda is also the last proper meal stop before Puttaparthi and has good highway restaurants. From here you leave NH44 for the final approach east.

Puttaparthi
The Village of Anthills
You arrive three and a half to four hours after leaving Bangalore. Puttaparthi is compact and walkable, and almost everything of interest sits within or immediately around Prasanthi Nilayam. It is a town shaped entirely by one institution - a university, a super-speciality hospital that treats patients free of charge, a planetarium and a small airport, all built by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. Since 2022 it has also been the headquarters of the new Sri Sathya Sai district. Accommodation ranges from ashram lodging to modest hotels on Main Road.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Puttaparthi Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore companies running employee wellness trips, CSR visits, senior team outings and client itineraries that combine Puttaparthi with Lepakshi or Nandi Hills. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full duration, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The AP interstate permit is arranged and itemised so it clears reimbursement without a query. A corporate tempo traveller bangalore booking can be staged across two pickups on the way north — a Manyata or Hebbal pickup followed by one closer to the airport works well on this route. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common booking on this corridor by a wide margin. Sai Samithi groups, bhajan mandalis and extended families travelling for darshan, often with elders and often on a fixed date tied to a festival or an anniversary. The package is built around the reality of the day: an early departure, fixed session timings, several hours of waiting in the middle, and a late return after the evening bhajans. The driver stays through all of it, and there is rear luggage space for instruments, prasadam, offerings and food for the return. Lepakshi on the way back turns the trip into a complete circuit without adding a night.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Standard 12 to 14 seater AC tempo travellers, point to point, no frills, clean vehicle, verified driver — suited to college groups, community trips, samithi outings and pilgrimage associations travelling in numbers through the year. The tempo traveller rate per km in bangalore for the standard tier is the lowest of any vehicle in this seating band, and across a group of fourteen on a same-day return the saving against cabs is substantial. The budget tier is about vehicle specification and interior finish, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury Package
The luxury tempo traveller tier: wider push-back recliners in a reduced seat count, better sound insulation, individual AC vents and reading lights, and a more finished interior throughout. On a route that involves an early start, a long day and a night return, the difference is real rather than cosmetic, and it is the tier most groups with elders in the party choose. Our luxury tempo traveller bangalore vehicles are held to a higher interior standard and drivers are briefed accordingly. For a step further in the same seating range, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration is the premium alternative on this route.
Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore
Our tempo traveller fleet covers 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations in standard AC and luxury trim. Around it we run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you to another category without restarting the process.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and luxury, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the premium option in a similar seating range
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, for larger samithi and family groups
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large pilgrimage and corporate movements
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On the Puttaparthi route this is not a constraint, since the drive is comfortably done in daylight in under four hours each way, and groups returning after the evening session are back in Bangalore the same night.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and the Andhra Pradesh permit for the Karnataka border crossing
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Two clauses matter more than usual on this route. The Andhra Pradesh permit applies because the journey crosses the state line at Kodikonda, and it is billed at actuals rather than absorbed into the rate. And the driver bata after 9:45 PM will normally apply if you stay for the evening bhajans, since the return then lands late — we flag this at quotation stage so it is priced in rather than appearing at settlement.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Puttaparthi Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to puttaparthi distance by road is approximately 165 kilometres, running north on NH44 through Yelahanka, Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur and Bagepalli, crossing into Andhra Pradesh at the Kodikonda check post, then taking the state highway through Chennekothapalli and Bukkapatnam. A tempo traveller covers it in 3 hours 15 minutes to 4 hours including one halt. Leaving Bangalore between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM puts you at Prasanthi Nilayam for the morning session; departing after 8:00 AM adds close to an hour just clearing the city.
Yes. Puttaparthi is in Andhra Pradesh and the route crosses the state line at the Kodikonda check post around 125 kilometres from Bangalore, so a valid interstate permit is required. It is billed at actuals as a separate line item rather than absorbed into the base rate. We arrange all the documentation before departure and the driver handles the check post, so there is nothing for you to do. This is the main billing difference between Puttaparthi and a comparable Karnataka route.
Yes, and this is how most groups book it. A 5:00 AM departure gets you to the ashram before the morning session, leaves the full day free, and allows a return to Bangalore the same night. If you plan to stay for the evening bhajans, expect to reach Bangalore around midnight, and note that the driver bata after 9:45 PM will apply — we price this in at quotation stage. Groups adding Lepakshi on the return usually do it as a two-day trip instead, or leave Lepakshi for a separate outing.
Tempo traveller fare starts around Rs 8,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and holds the vehicle on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Puttaparthi festival dates — Guru Purnima, Dasara, the November birthday celebrations and Mahasamadhi day — a higher advance may be required and the booking should be made several weeks ahead.
Our tempo traveller hire bangalore fleet covers 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 seater configurations in standard AC and luxury trim. Under eight passengers a car or SUV is more economical; above eighteen, a 12 to 24 seater mini bus is the right vehicle, and above twenty-four we operate 27 to 50 seater buses. Tell us your headcount and how much you are carrying — bhajan groups travelling with instruments need more rear space than the seat count alone suggests — and we will recommend the configuration.
Yes. On a day booking the vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, which is precisely why groups prefer this over cabs booked by the trip. The driver parks in the designated area and is available between sessions and when you leave. Billing is on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage rather than per outing, so the waiting hours are already inside the quote you approve. Multi-day bookings work the same way, with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance.
Session timings at Prasanthi Nilayam shift with the season and with the festival calendar, so confirm them close to your travel date rather than relying on a fixed schedule. Sai Kulwant Hall fills well before each session and hours ahead on festival days, so arriving early is the most useful planning you can do. There is a dress code, queues are separate for men and women, and mobile phones and cameras are not permitted in the darshan hall. Your driver can advise on where to leave belongings.
Lepakshi is the most common addition — around ninety kilometres away, close to the highway, and home to the Veerabhadra Temple with its hanging pillar, its ceiling murals and the monolithic Nandi outside the village. Penukonda, thirty kilometres from Puttaparthi, was the Vijayanagara empire’s second capital and rewards a half day. Bukkapatnam and its bird-rich tank sit on the approach road, and Nandi Hills and the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple are on the Karnataka side of the route. A puttaparthi lepakshi tour package covering all of it works best across two days.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Festival-date and luxury tier bookings need 7 days and 5 days notice respectively for a full refund. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com — our tt vehicle enquiry and WhatsApp lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
