Places to Visit in Kurnool

Konda Reddy Fort and the City
The Konda Reddy Buruju is the landmark of Kurnool - a tall watchtower and gateway from the Vijayanagara period standing in the middle of the modern city, named after a chieftain said to have been imprisoned in it. It is a modest monument in itself and the interest is in what it represents: this was a fortified town on the Tungabhadra long before it briefly became a state capital. The city also holds the Birla Mandir and the riverfront where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra. Visit for an hour on an arrival evening; Kurnool is a working city and its interest is as a base rather than a sight.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Kodikonda
Border Town of the Deccan
This is the easiest exit from Bangalore of any route we operate - NH 44 runs north past the international airport on six lanes from the start, and the airport traffic thins beyond Devanahalli. Our drivers aim to be past the airport before 6:15 AM on a circuit departure. Devanahalli holds the fort where Tipu Sultan was born in 1751, standing a short distance off the highway and almost entirely ignored by the traffic. Chikkaballapur follows with the Nandi Hills to the west. Bagepalli is the last Karnataka town, and the Andhra border comes at Kodikonda with the checkpost and toll plaza - the interstate permit is presented here, arranged by us in advance so it is a formality.

Anantapur
Groundnut Capital of India
The Lepakshi turn comes up shortly after the border, around fifteen kilometres off the highway, and it is the best detour available on any road out of Bangalore - the hanging pillar, the great ceiling murals and the monolithic Nandi, in ninety minutes. On a Kurnool circuit trip it is worth building into the outbound leg rather than hoping to fit it on the way back. Penukonda follows, the fortress the Vijayanagara empire retreated to after Hampi fell, now also the site of a major automobile plant that has reshaped the local economy. Anantapur, at just over two hundred kilometres, is the groundnut capital of India and the natural breakfast halt on this route, with good options on the bypass. Beyond it the highway continues north through increasingly dry country.
Gooty
Hill Fort of Rayalaseema
Sixty kilometres of continuing excellent divided highway across open Rayalaseema. This is dry, hot country - the district is among the least watered in India - and the landscape is granite outcrop and scrub, with the occasional irrigated patch marking a tank or a borewell belt. Gooty announces itself with its fort, a Vijayanagara and later Maratha stronghold built across a steep granite outcrop directly above the road. Murari Rao held it and Hyder Ali took it after a long siege; the walls climb the rock in stages and the whole thing is visible from the highway. It is a worthwhile hour for anyone with time in hand, and it is one of three substantial forts on this corridor along with Penukonda and Rayadurgam.

Kurnool
First Capital of Andhra State
Ninety-five kilometres of fast highway north. Dhone is a railway town where the lines toward Guntakal, Kurnool and Nandyal meet, and it is the sort of place whose importance is entirely invisible from the road. Beyond it the country begins to change - the Nallamala hills appear on the eastern horizon and the land drops toward the Tungabhadra basin. Kurnool sits where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra, with the Konda Reddy fort tower in the middle of the modern city. It was the capital of Andhra State from 1953 to 1956 before the move to Hyderabad, and it retains a certain civic weight from that. Practically it is a substantial city with the hotels, hospitals, fuel and services a circuit trip needs, and it is the base from which Belum, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Ahobilam and Alampur are all reachable. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Kurnool by around 10:30 AM.

Urbania Packages for the Bangalore to Kurnool Route
Corporate Package
The manufacturing belt running from Penukonda through Anantapur to Kurnool has grown fast, and a substantial share of our bookings on this corridor are plant visits, supplier audits and dealer meets rather than tourism. The package includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver retained for the full multi-day trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The Urbania is a reasonable working cabin on the highway legs — power at every seat, low cabin noise and a stable enough ride for a laptop — which matters when a team is preparing between sites. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages recurring runs to the same plant so that repeat bookings take one call.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The Rayalaseema temple circuit is the core private booking here, usually Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti and Ahobilam across three to five days, often with Alampur added. The package is built around how these visits actually run: temple timings that do not bend, a driver who waits without pressure while a family spends three hours inside a complex, and enough luggage room for a five-day trip without anyone travelling with a bag on their lap. The Urbania’s low step-in height and full standing headroom matter more here than on any other route we run, simply because of how many times a pilgrimage group boards and disembarks in a day. Where the group includes elderly members, tell us at enquiry — several of these sites involve real climbing, and we will say honestly which ones.
Weekend Explorer Package
A distinct and growing booking pattern: a Friday-night or pre-dawn Saturday departure from Bangalore for Gandikota and Belum, back Sunday evening. Almost always a younger group, often photographers, and built around sunrise at the gorge, which means the itinerary is planned backwards from first light rather than forwards from departure. We handle the awkward parts — where a vehicle of this size can be left overnight near Gandikota, realistic timing for the Belum leg, and the fact that two days is genuinely tight for both. Groups searching a gandikota tour package from bangalore are usually looking for exactly this shape of trip, and the Urbania suits it because the approach roads punish anything larger.
Luxury and Executive Package
The 17 seater in executive configuration — wider seating, extra legroom, better trim, and the quietest cabin in its class. Across a 1,200 kilometre circuit with several rough-road legs, this is a functional upgrade rather than a cosmetic one. Suited to senior management travel, institutional delegations and milestone family trips. Luxury urbania rental bangalore availability is tightest between October and February, which is also the only sensible window for this circuit, so book early. For parties under eight wanting the same standard, our cab rental bangalore fleet runs Innova Crysta, Fortuner and premium marques on the same route.
Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore
Our 17 seater urbania bangalore and 13 seater urbania rental configurations are both all-AC with push-back seating. We run the full range of group vehicles from one Bangalore base, so a change in headcount after booking can usually be absorbed by moving category rather than restarting.
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the recommended vehicle for this circuit
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, the value option in the same size band
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large groups
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why we recommend an early morning departure and a hotel night in Kurnool rather than an overnight drive on a route of this length. It is more comfortable and considerably safer.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and permit for the Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh crossing
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
Garage-to-garage is standard across organised group transport in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup and stops when it returns, and that is built into the written quote, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay. Two things deserve attention on this circuit. The Andhra Pradesh permit is unavoidable and appears as its own line rather than being folded into the base rate; a Telangana permit is added if Alampur is on your list. And because the local legs here are long — Gandikota and back is 220 kilometres before you have seen anything else — total circuit mileage runs well above what groups initially estimate. We build a realistic figure into the quote rather than a flattering one.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Urbania Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kurnool Urbania
The bangalore to kurnool distance by road is approximately 363 kilometres, running north on NH44 through Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur, Bagepalli, the Kodikonda border post, Penukonda, Anantapur and Gooty. Allow 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes including halts. NH44 forms part of the North–South Corridor and is four to six lanes for effectively the whole run, so the drive is quick once you are clear of Bangalore. Leaving between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM to beat the Hebbal and airport traffic is the most useful thing you can do for the schedule.
Three ways, and they compound over a long circuit. The Urbania’s monocoque body rides flatter and transmits far less road surface into the cabin, which matters on the Gandikota, Ahobilam and Srisailam approaches rather than on the highway. It has full standing headroom through the aisle, which counts when a group boards and disembarks eight or nine times a day. And the interior is a class up — deeper windows, better seat recline, individual lighting and charging, and roof air conditioning that reaches the rear rows, which is not a trivial detail in Rayalaseema. A tempo traveller remains the sensible value choice; the Urbania is what you book when the trip is long and comfort is part of the point.
Yes. Kurnool is in Andhra Pradesh, so a valid Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh interstate permit is mandatory and is verified at the Kodikonda check post. We arrange all documentation before departure, so you need do nothing. The permit is billed at actuals and appears as a separate line in your quote. If Alampur is on your itinerary you also cross into Telangana, which requires a further permit — mention it at enquiry so it is quoted correctly rather than settled later.
Urbania fare starts around Rs 29,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
Three days is the realistic minimum and four is better. Kurnool city is half a day. Gandikota and Belum are each about 110 kilometres from the city in different directions and take a day between them at a push. Srisailam is 180 kilometres east and effectively needs its own day given the tiger reserve road timings. Mahanandi, Yaganti and Ahobilam form a separate cluster. A two-day trip realistically covers Gandikota and Belum and nothing else — which is a perfectly good weekend, but worth deciding deliberately rather than discovering on the road.
Yes, and this is the main reason to choose it over something larger. The final approaches at both sites are narrow and rough, and a 24 seater mini bus or a full coach struggles or has to stop short, which means the group transfers into local vehicles for the last stretch. The Urbania’s footprint clears this. At Ahobilam, note that no vehicle of any size reaches the upper shrines — that section is on foot regardless.
Yes, and nearly every group books it that way. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, covering Kurnool city, Gandikota, Belum Caves, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Srisailam, Ahobilam and Alampur as your itinerary requires. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Given how far apart these sites sit, having the vehicle waiting rather than arranging local transport at each one is the difference between a workable itinerary and an exhausting one. Share your day-wise plan at enquiry and we quote the whole trip as one number.
October to February, and the margin is not close. Rayalaseema is among the hottest and driest regions in South India, with daytime temperatures from March to June regularly above 40 degrees, which makes the walking at Gandikota, Ahobilam and Yaganti genuinely punishing regardless of how good the vehicle’s air conditioning is. Winter is pleasant throughout, Belum stays comfortable year round given the underground temperature, and Rollapadu birding peaks between November and February. If you must travel in summer, plan an early start every day and accept a shorter afternoon.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services, and the Urbania is a seated vehicle with push-back seats. On a route of this length we recommend an early morning departure and a hotel night in Kurnool rather than driving overnight, which is more comfortable and considerably safer. We can suggest accommodation options in Kurnool and near Gandikota when you share your itinerary.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, passenger count and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our force urbania hire enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
