Places to Visit in Kurnool

Konda Reddy Fort and the City
The Konda Reddy Buruju is the landmark of Kurnool - a tall watchtower and gateway from the Vijayanagara period standing in the middle of the modern city, named after a chieftain said to have been imprisoned in it. It is a modest monument in itself and the interest is in what it represents: this was a fortified town on the Tungabhadra long before it briefly became a state capital. The city also holds the Birla Mandir and the riverfront where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra. Visit for an hour on an arrival evening; Kurnool is a working city and its interest is as a base rather than a sight.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Kodikonda
Border Town of the Deccan
This is the easiest exit from Bangalore of any route we operate - NH 44 runs north past the international airport on six lanes from the start, and the airport traffic thins beyond Devanahalli. Our drivers aim to be past the airport before 6:15 AM on a circuit departure. Devanahalli holds the fort where Tipu Sultan was born in 1751, standing a short distance off the highway and almost entirely ignored by the traffic. Chikkaballapur follows with the Nandi Hills to the west. Bagepalli is the last Karnataka town, and the Andhra border comes at Kodikonda with the checkpost and toll plaza - the interstate permit is presented here, arranged by us in advance so it is a formality.

Anantapur
Groundnut Capital of India
The Lepakshi turn comes up shortly after the border, around fifteen kilometres off the highway, and it is the best detour available on any road out of Bangalore - the hanging pillar, the great ceiling murals and the monolithic Nandi, in ninety minutes. On a Kurnool circuit trip it is worth building into the outbound leg rather than hoping to fit it on the way back. Penukonda follows, the fortress the Vijayanagara empire retreated to after Hampi fell, now also the site of a major automobile plant that has reshaped the local economy. Anantapur, at just over two hundred kilometres, is the groundnut capital of India and the natural breakfast halt on this route, with good options on the bypass. Beyond it the highway continues north through increasingly dry country.
Gooty
Hill Fort of Rayalaseema
Sixty kilometres of continuing excellent divided highway across open Rayalaseema. This is dry, hot country - the district is among the least watered in India - and the landscape is granite outcrop and scrub, with the occasional irrigated patch marking a tank or a borewell belt. Gooty announces itself with its fort, a Vijayanagara and later Maratha stronghold built across a steep granite outcrop directly above the road. Murari Rao held it and Hyder Ali took it after a long siege; the walls climb the rock in stages and the whole thing is visible from the highway. It is a worthwhile hour for anyone with time in hand, and it is one of three substantial forts on this corridor along with Penukonda and Rayadurgam.

Kurnool
First Capital of Andhra State
Ninety-five kilometres of fast highway north. Dhone is a railway town where the lines toward Guntakal, Kurnool and Nandyal meet, and it is the sort of place whose importance is entirely invisible from the road. Beyond it the country begins to change - the Nallamala hills appear on the eastern horizon and the land drops toward the Tungabhadra basin. Kurnool sits where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra, with the Konda Reddy fort tower in the middle of the modern city. It was the capital of Andhra State from 1953 to 1956 before the move to Hyderabad, and it retains a certain civic weight from that. Practically it is a substantial city with the hotels, hospitals, fuel and services a circuit trip needs, and it is the base from which Belum, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Ahobilam and Alampur are all reachable. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Kurnool by around 10:30 AM.

Minibus Packages for the Bangalore to Kurnool Route
Corporate Package
The industrial belt between Penukonda, Anantapur and Kurnool has grown substantially, and a good share of our bookings here are plant visits, supplier audits and dealer meets rather than tourism. The package includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver retained for the full multi-day trip, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate minibus bangalore stays with your team across the Penukonda, Anantapur and Kurnool legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels desk manages the arrangement end to end, including recurring monthly runs to the same plant.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common private booking on this corridor, and usually part of a wider Rayalaseema circuit taking in Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti and Ahobilam across three to five days. Designed around temple timings and around a driver who understands that a family will spend three hours inside a complex and needs a waiting vehicle when they come out. Luggage capacity is the deciding advantage on a multi-day trip — a 20 seater absorbs what four cars would struggle with. Where a group includes elderly members, say so at enquiry: several of these sites involve substantial walking or climbing, and we will tell you honestly which ones do.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Non-AC 12 to 17 seater mini buses, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills — suited to college groups, community trips and pilgrimage associations. The mini bus rate per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 726 kilometre round trip the saving across a full group is substantial. One honest caveat specific to this route: Rayalaseema is genuinely hot from March to June, regularly above 40 degrees, and we will recommend against the non-AC option in those months rather than take the booking quietly. From October to February it is entirely comfortable. Schools booking under school excursion bus rental bangalore receive the same driver verification and vehicle checks as any other tier.
Luxury and Executive Package
Executive mini coach configuration with fewer, wider push-back seats, extra legroom, better sound insulation and premium interiors. On a seven-hour drive followed by a multi-day circuit of long inter-site legs, the difference is functional rather than cosmetic. Suited to senior management travel, milestone family trips and any group that wants to stay together without compromising comfort. For a premium alternative in a smaller size band, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration runs the same route and handles the Gandikota and Belum approach roads particularly well.
Our Minibus Fleet in Bangalore
Our ac minibus rental bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations. We run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller groups on the same corridor
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large groups
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why we recommend an early morning departure and an overnight halt in Kurnool rather than attempting an overnight drive. It makes for a better trip and a safer one.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and permit for the Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh crossing
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Two route-specific notes. The Andhra Pradesh permit is unavoidable and appears as its own line rather than being absorbed into the base rate. And groups adding Alampur cross into Telangana, which requires a further permit — flag it at enquiry so it is quoted correctly rather than settled later.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Minibus Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kurnool Minibus
The bangalore to kurnool distance by road is approximately 363 kilometres, running north on NH44 through Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur, Bagepalli, the Kodikonda border post, Penukonda, Anantapur and Gooty. Allow 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes including halts. NH44 is four to six lanes and among the best-surfaced corridors in South India, so the drive is fast once you are clear of Bangalore — leaving between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM to beat the Hebbal and airport traffic is the single most useful thing you can do for the schedule.
Yes. Kurnool is in Andhra Pradesh, so a valid Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh interstate permit is mandatory and is verified at the Kodikonda check post. We arrange all documentation before departure, so you need do nothing. The permit is billed at actuals and appears as a separate line in your quote. Groups adding Alampur cross into Telangana as well, which requires a further permit — tell us at enquiry so it is quoted correctly.
Pricing starts from Rs 23,640. The quoted fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Charged separately at actuals are toll and parking, interstate tax and permit for the Andhra Pradesh crossing, additional driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage, and every charge appears as a line item in the written quote you receive within 2 hours.
Three days is the realistic minimum, and four is better. Kurnool city takes half a day. Gandikota and Belum Caves are each about 110 kilometres from the city and take a day between them. Srisailam is 180 kilometres east and effectively needs its own day, particularly given the tiger reserve road timings. Mahanandi, Yaganti and Ahobilam form a separate cluster. Trying to compress this into a weekend produces a trip that is mostly driving — we will tell you so at enquiry rather than after.
Our minibus hire bangalore fleet covers 12, 14, 17, 20 and 24 seater configurations in AC and non-AC. Under twelve passengers, an 8 to 18 seater tempo traveller is usually more economical. Above twenty-four we operate 27 to 50 seater buses, but be aware that a full coach is a genuine disadvantage on the approach roads to Gandikota and Belum — for this particular circuit a mini bus is often the better vehicle even for a group that could fill a larger one.
Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same vehicle and driver stay with you throughout, covering Kurnool city, Gandikota, Belum Caves, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Srisailam and Ahobilam as your itinerary requires. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Given the distances between these sites, having a vehicle waiting rather than arranging local transport at each one is the difference between a workable itinerary and an exhausting one. Share your day-wise plan at enquiry and we quote the whole trip in one number.
October to February, without much argument. Rayalaseema is one of the hottest and driest regions in South India, and daytime temperatures from March to June regularly exceed 40 degrees, which makes the walking at Gandikota, Ahobilam and Yaganti genuinely punishing. The winter months are pleasant, Belum Caves are comfortable year round given the underground temperature, and Rollapadu birding is at its best between November and February. If you must travel in summer, take the AC tier and plan an early start each day.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On a route of this length we recommend an early morning departure and a hotel night in Kurnool rather than an overnight drive, which is both more comfortable and considerably safer. We can suggest accommodation options when you share your itinerary.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Multi-day outstation trips to Kurnool, Gandikota and Srisailam need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Date changes and vehicle upgrades with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, group size and day-wise itinerary. A written itemised quote follows within 2 hours; confirm it, pay the 20 percent advance, and you receive driver details, vehicle registration and the full billing breakdown in writing. Our mini bus booking online and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
