Places to Visit in Coimbatore

Isha Yoga Center and the Adiyogi Statue

Isha Yoga Center and the Adiyogi Statue

Thirty kilometres west of the city at the foot of the Velliangiri hills, the Isha Yoga Center is the largest single draw in the district and the reason a substantial share of our Coimbatore bookings exist. The 34 metre Adiyogi bust, recognised as the largest bust sculpture in the world, stands at the entrance and is genuinely startling at first sight, with the Dhyanalinga meditation shrine and Linga Bhairavi temple within the complex. Entry is open to visitors of any background at no charge. Visit early morning or at dusk when the Adiyogi is lit. Allow half a day, and note that Mahashivratri draws enormous crowds and needs planning well ahead.

Allow half a day, and note that Mahashivratri draws enormous crowds and needs planning well ahead.

Marudhamalai Murugan Temple

Marudhamalai Murugan Temple

A seventh-century hilltop Murugan temple on a spur of the Western Ghats about fifteen kilometres from the city centre, reached by a winding road with steps for those who prefer to climb. It is one of the significant Murugan shrines of Tamil Nadu and is busy with local devotees rather than tourists, which gives it a very different feel from the larger pilgrimage sites. Visit in the early morning for the light across the plain and to avoid midday heat on the approach. Around ninety minutes covers it including the drive up.

Perur Pateeswarar Temple

Perur Pateeswarar Temple

One of the oldest temples in the region, on the Noyyal river about seven kilometres from the city, with a history running back well over a thousand years and later additions under the Nayaka rulers. The Kanaka Sabha hall is the highlight, its carved stone pillars depicting figures from the epics in a style that rewards slow looking. Visit for the carving, which is the finest in the immediate Coimbatore area, and because it sees far fewer visitors than Marudhamalai. Footwear is removed at the entrance and mornings are calmest. Allow an hour.

Siruvani Waterfalls and Dam

Siruvani Waterfalls and Dam

Around thirty-five kilometres west toward the Kerala border, Siruvani is best known for the quality of its water, long held among the sweetest in India and the source of Coimbatore municipal supply. The falls sit inside a reserved forest and the dam has a viewpoint and garden. Visit between June and December when the flow is strong. This is the one destination here that needs checking before you commit the day - access to the falls area requires forest department permission and is periodically restricted, and arrangements change, so confirm the current position close to your travel dates. The drive out through the foothills is worthwhile regardless.

Vaidehi Falls and the Ghats Edge

Vaidehi Falls and the Ghats Edge

A smaller cascade in the Anaikatti hills north-west of the city, reached by a short forest trek from the road and considerably quieter than Siruvani. The surrounding Anaikatti area sits on the boundary of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and holds research institutions and a scattering of quiet resorts. Visit if you want the Western Ghats without crowds and your group is comfortable with a short walk on uneven ground. The falls run properly in and just after the monsoon and reduce to a trickle by March.

Kovai Kutralam, Black Thunder and the City

Kovai Kutralam, Black Thunder and the City

Kovai Kutralam falls sit near Siruvani and are the more accessible of the two, popular for bathing when the flow is good. Black Thunder, on the Mettupalayam road, is a large water theme park and the standard answer for families with children. In the city itself, the Gass Forest Museum holds an unexpectedly good collection of timber and wildlife specimens in a colonial-era building, and Coimbatore is a serious food city - Kongunadu cuisine, and the textile and jewellery shopping around Cross Cut Road and Oppanakara Street, are reasons in themselves to allow an evening rather than driving straight through.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Coimbatore Route

Nothing here is a fixed menu. Every quotation is built around group size, the arrival commitment and which road suits, but almost every enquiry on this corridor falls into one of the five shapes below.

Corporate Package

The largest single segment on this route, since Coimbatore is a major textile, engineering and manufacturing centre. The 17 and 18 seater variants take a full team with laptop bags and sample cases, and for larger movements we run two vehicles on one schedule. Same-day return trips and multi-day plant-visit itineraries are both common. Documentation is handled up front: GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice at quotation stage for purchase-order approval, monthly consolidated billing and thirty-day credit terms for signed accounts. For business travel we route via Salem by default, because a predictable arrival time matters more than a better drive. See our corporate travels bangalore desk and our employee transportation services bangalore programme for ongoing requirements.

Isha and Pilgrimage Package

A distinct booking type on this corridor. Groups travelling together to the Isha Yoga Center, and parties combining it with Marudhamalai and Perur, make up a steady share of our Coimbatore work. The complex is thirty kilometres west of the city with proper parking for a large vehicle, and half a day is the right allocation, so we plan the arrival day around reaching Coimbatore early enough to go straight out rather than checking in first. Mahashivratri is the exception: crowds are enormous, accommodation and vehicles both tighten months ahead, and a group booking for those dates needs to be placed very early.

Family Package

For families travelling to Coimbatore for functions and temple visits, and for those using it as the first leg of an Ooty or Munnar trip. A 12 or 13 seater covers most; larger gatherings move to the 17 or 18 seater. We plan these around a proper breakfast halt at Salem rather than a rushed one, an early departure to avoid arriving in evening traffic, and a temple stop at Avinashi if there is interest. Where the itinerary allows a daylight run and the group would enjoy it, we will suggest the Sathyamangalam route, which is the far better drive, but never at the cost of arriving after dark near the forest section.

Budget Package

For groups whose priority is the lowest defensible per-head figure. Spread across twelve or thirteen passengers this route compares well against individual bus or train tickets once door-to-door convenience and the transfers at both ends are counted. Budget means a standard AC 12 seater tempo traveller bangalore variant and a direct itinerary on the Salem road. It does not mean an older vehicle or a less experienced driver, since fleet and driver standards do not change between tiers, and on a route with the Thoppur ghat in the middle of it that matters. One-way drops are priced on the actual run rather than as a notional half of a round trip, which is worth checking when you compare quotes elsewhere.

Luxury Package

For executive travel, client hosting and senior family groups who want seven hours to be comfortable rather than merely survivable. This tier covers our 9 to 13 seater luxury tempo traveller bangalore range with high-back recliners, footrests, reading lights, blackout curtains and per-seat charging, and extends to the Force Urbania. Drivers on premium bookings travel in formal attire where the occasion requires it. On a route with the Thoppur ghat in the middle and, on the alternative road, twenty-seven hairpin bends at Dhimbam, suspension and seat comfort are functional considerations rather than cosmetic ones.

Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment

Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for this corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged and everything inside it is stated before you confirm. Twenty percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.

Included in the quoted fare

•     Base fare and fuel charges

•     Driver allowance

Not included in the quoted fare

•     Toll and parking charges

•     Interstate tax and permit charges

•     Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra

•     Final rental calculated on total kilometres and hours, garage to garage

•     GST

Three points are worth understanding on this route specifically. First, tolls differ enormously between the two roads: the Salem corridor carries several plazas and a meaningful one-way toll cost, while the Sathyamangalam route is close to toll-free. Since tolls are billed at actual rather than estimated, your final settlement will differ depending on which road you travelled, and we tell you the expected difference at quotation stage rather than leaving it as a surprise. Second, the Tamil Nadu interstate permit applies on both routes, is shown as a separate line quoted at actual, and scales with seating capacity, so an 18 seater carries a higher figure than a 12 seater and we quote it before you choose the vehicle. Third, the kilometre difference between the two roads is real, and because the final rental is calculated on total kilometres run garage to garage, the road taken affects that figure too.

Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal cover should arrange it independently, and on a route with a ghat section we recommend it more strongly than on ordinary highway trips. For institutional and college groups a group policy is usually inexpensive and often required by the institution. We also do not operate sleeper coaches; the fleet on this route is seated tempo travellers in the 8 to 18 band.

How to Book a Tempo Traveller for Rent in Bangalore

Booking a tempo traveller for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•     Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

•     Share your travel date and your Bangalore pickup location — area, landmark, building, hotel or tech park. Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala and the KIA airport are all routine.

•     Share the destination or full itinerary, the number of passengers, and your preferred vehicle tier — Standard AC or Luxury AC.

•     Tell us your departure time and whether you have a fixed arrival commitment, since that determines which of the two routes we use.

•     For corporate bookings, share your GST number and preferred invoicing format. For premium vehicles, mention the occasion — corporate, wedding or VIP event — so the team can allocate the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•     Within 2 hours of your enquiry, a written quote arrives by WhatsApp or email.

•     The quote itemizes every charge: vehicle hire rate in rupees per kilometre or as a flat package, driver allowance, the expected toll figure for the route we plan to use, the Tamil Nadu interstate permit as its own line, and GST.

•     No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

•     For corporate clients requiring reimbursement approval, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•     If you want to compare two seating sizes or the standard and luxury tiers, request both quotes at the same time. Permit charges differ between them, so ask for both figures.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay the Advance

•     Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm by WhatsApp or phone.

•     A 20 percent advance payment on the total fare confirms the booking and holds the vehicle for your date.

•     Pay by UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), by NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or by credit or debit card through a payment link.

•     The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

•     Your confirmation includes the driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing.

•     For Mahashivratri at Isha, Pongal, New Year and long weekends, book well ahead since fleet availability tightens quickly.

Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early

•     Your assigned driver reaches the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before the scheduled departure.

•     For airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.

•     The vehicle arrives clean, sanitized, fuelled and ready. For wedding and VIP bookings the driver is in formal attire.

•     The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•     During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments, the border checkpost and the ghat sections.

•     At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance. Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both the advance and the final settlement at trip end.

•     UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method, with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

•     Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Used for corporate clients and larger advances. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•     Credit or debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, through a payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for the advance and for full payment.

•     Net banking — all major Indian banks, through a payment link by WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore IT corporate purchase-order approvals.

•     Cash — accepted for the balance at trip end, with a receipt issued. The advance itself must be digital for the booking to be confirmed.

•     Corporate credit — 30-day credit terms for signed corporate accounts, with monthly consolidated invoicing available.

Payment note: a 20 percent advance confirms your booking and guarantees vehicle availability on your date. No advance means no confirmed booking. A digital receipt is issued within 30 minutes of every payment.

Cancellation Policy

Tejas Travels maintains a fair, transparent and tiered cancellation policy. All terms are communicated in writing at booking confirmation, with no hidden conditions.

•     More than 72 hours before departure — no cancellation charge. 100 percent of the advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days.

•     48 to 72 hours before departure — 10 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 10 percent deduction.

•     24 to 48 hours before departure — 25 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 25 percent deduction.

•     12 to 24 hours before departure — 50 percent of the total trip fare. The advance is refunded less the 50 percent deduction.

•     Less than 12 hours before departure — 75 percent of the total trip fare. Minimal or no refund, depending on the value of the trip.

•     No-show, where the vehicle has been deployed and the group is absent — 100 percent of the total trip fare. No refund; the full fare is payable.

•     Cancellation by Tejas Travels, for breakdown or force majeure — no charge. 100 percent refunded within 2 working days, or an alternate vehicle offered at the same rate.

Special cancellation conditions

•     Corporate contract bookings: contract terms govern. Modifications with 48-hour notice are accommodated subject to vehicle availability.

•     Peak dates — Mahashivratri at Isha, Pongal, New Year, Diwali and long weekends: minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.

•     Multi-day and institutional bookings: for trips booked more than 7 days ahead, a minimum 5-day notice is required for a full refund.

•     Force majeure — heavy rain, landslides or closures on the ghat sections, bandhs or government restrictions: 100 percent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period.

•     Modifications to date, seating or route with more than 24 hours notice: accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability. Note that a seating change may alter the permit charge.

How to cancel: call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference. Cancellation confirmation within 2 hours, and the refund goes back to the original payment method within the stated timelines.

Refund Policy

All refunds are processed to the original payment instrument used for the advance. No cash refund is issued unless the advance was paid in cash.

•     Cancellation more than 72 hours before departure: 100 percent of the advance paid, in 5 to 7 working days.

•     Cancellation 48 to 72 hours before departure: advance minus the 10 percent charge, in 5 to 7 working days.

•     Cancellation 24 to 48 hours before departure: advance minus the 25 percent charge, in 5 to 7 working days.

•     Cancellation 12 to 24 hours before departure: advance minus the 50 percent charge, in 7 to 10 working days.

•     Cancellation by Tejas Travels for operational reasons: 100 percent of the advance paid, in 2 working days on priority processing.

•     Trip shortfall where actual kilometres fall below the minimum: proportional credit on the excess, settled at trip end against the final balance.

•     Billing error or overcharge: the full overcharged amount, in 2 to 3 working days after verification.

•     Duplicate payment: the full duplicate amount, in 2 to 3 working days after confirmation.

Refund by payment method

•     UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm): refunded to the UPI-linked bank account within 3 to 5 working days.

•     Credit or debit card: refunded to the originating card within 5 to 7 working days.

•     Bank transfer: refunded to the originating account within 3 to 5 working days, with account details re-confirmed before processing.

•     Cash: refunded at the Tejas Travels Bangalore office, or transferred by IMPS within 5 working days.

Refund contact: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your booking reference, advance receipt and the reason for the refund. Confirmation within 24 hours. For billing disputes, contact us within 7 days of trip completion; genuine disputes are resolved within 3 working days.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Coimbatore Tempo Traveller

The bangalore to coimbatore distance is around 360 km via NH 44 and NH 544 through Hosur, Krishnagiri, Salem and Avinashi, covered in 7 to 8 hours with one halt. The Sathyamangalam route through Kanakapura, Chamarajanagar and the Dhimbam ghat is shorter at roughly 324 to 340 km and can be quicker in light traffic, but it cannot be used at night. Which route we take depends on your departure time and your arrival commitment, and we tell you which one before you travel.

For a loaded group vehicle we default to Salem, and it is worth explaining why. The Salem road is four-lane national highway, open around the clock, well lit and populated, with heavy commercial traffic and meaningful tolls, and it gives a predictable arrival time. The Sathyamangalam road is shorter, quieter, more scenic and largely toll-free, but it carries twenty-seven hairpin bends on the Dhimbam descent, very little infrastructure and no street lighting through the forest. A 12 or 13 seater takes those bends comfortably; a fully loaded 18 seater takes them slowly enough that the distance saving largely disappears. For a daylight departure with time in hand and a smaller vehicle, it is the better drive.

Yes, but only via Salem. Traffic through the Dhimbam ghat and the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is restricted at night, commonly cited as around 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, because it is an active wildlife corridor with elephant crossings. The timings and terms are set by the forest department and can change, so we confirm the current position before departure rather than relying on a published figure. If your departure or expected arrival falls anywhere near that window, we route you via Salem rather than risk a vehicle full of people reaching a closed checkpoint.

For eight to thirteen passengers the 12 or 13 seater at Rs 22 per km is the best value in the fleet and the more flexible vehicle if you want the Sathyamangalam road. For fourteen to eighteen, the 17 or 18 seater is right, and on a corporate booking the extra room for bags and cases usually decides it regardless of headcount. Remember that the Tamil Nadu permit charge is higher on a larger vehicle, so ask for both figures when you compare. Beyond eighteen passengers we would move you to a mini bus rental in bangalore vehicle rather than running two tempo travellers.

A 12 seater starts from around Rs 18,500. Multi-day plant-visit itineraries and Ooty or Munnar extensions are quoted on the day-wise plan. Every quote itemizes base fare, driver allowance, the expected toll figure, the Tamil Nadu permit and GST separately, and arrives in writing within two hours. Note that toll costs differ substantially between the two routes and are billed at actual, so your final settlement reflects the road you actually travelled.

Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, interstate tax and permit charges, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage back to our garage, which is the standard commercial basis for outstation hire and which means the road taken affects the figure. A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms the booking, with the receipt issued within 30 minutes. Every exclusion appears in the written quote before you confirm, so nothing is added at settlement that you have not already seen.

Yes, on both routes, since the road crosses from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu. We arrange the permit in advance and show the cost as a separate line in your quote rather than folding it into the base fare, so you do not need to do anything and there is no waiting at the border. The charge scales with seating capacity, which is worth factoring in when you decide between a 13 seater and an 18 seater, and we quote it before you choose rather than after.

Yes, and it is the single most requested destination on this route. The centre is thirty kilometres west of the city with proper parking for a large vehicle, entry is open to visitors of any background at no charge, and half a day is the right allocation. For a group we plan the arrival day so you reach Coimbatore early enough to go straight out rather than checking in first, and early morning or dusk is when the Adiyogi is at its best. Mahashivratri draws enormous crowds and both accommodation and vehicles tighten months ahead, so a group booking for those dates needs to be placed very early.

Yes, and it is a common extension. Coimbatore sits at the foot of the Nilgiris, so Ooty is a straightforward continuation via Mettupalayam, and Munnar and Kodaikanal are reachable onward into Kerala and the Palani hills respectively. A Kerala interstate permit applies for Munnar and is arranged by us. Tell us at quotation stage so the kilometres and permits are in the plan rather than surfacing at settlement, and note that distance beyond the agreed itinerary is billed at the pre-agreed rate.

No on both counts. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal cover should arrange it independently; for institutional and college groups a group policy is usually inexpensive and often required by the institution. We also do not operate sleeper bus services. The fleet is seated throughout: 8 to 18 seater tempo travellers, 12 to 24 seater minibuses, 27 to 50 seater buses including Volvo and Benz coaches, 13 to 17 seater Force Urbania, and 4 to 7 seater cars.
