● Multi-Day Interstate Trips — Wayanad and other multi-day Kerala itineraries require a minimum 5-day notice for a full refund, since the interstate permit is raised in advance.
● Luxury Vehicles — Minimum 5-day notice for a full refund, due to limited Bangalore fleet and wedding season demand.
● Peak Dates — New Year, Diwali, Onam, Dasara and Bangalore long weekends require a minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.

Approximately 285 kilometres to Kalpetta via Mysore, Gundlupet and Bandipur, taking 6 to 6.5 hours of actual driving. Allow around 8 hours door to door with breakfast, lunch and comfort breaks. Sultan Bathery is closer at about 275 kilometres, and Mananthavady is around 290 kilometres via the Hunsur and Kutta route.
The NH-766 forest stretch through Bandipur is closed to vehicles between 9 pm and 6 am to protect wildlife. There is no exemption for tourist vehicles. In practice this means outward departures from Bangalore should leave by around 1 pm at the latest, and return departures from Wayanad should start early enough to clear the forest before 9 pm. Our drivers plan the day around this automatically, but it is worth knowing when you build your own itinerary.
Yes. The route crosses into Kerala at Muthanga, so a Kerala interstate permit and tax apply to the vehicle. We arrange it in advance and itemise the cost separately in your written quote, so nothing is added at the checkpost. This is why we ask for the full day-wise itinerary at the enquiry stage rather than just the destination.
We do not recommend it. Six hours of driving each way, combined with the 9 pm Bandipur closure, leaves almost no usable time at the destination. Two nights is the sensible minimum, and three nights lets you include Chembra or a safari without rushing. If you have only one day available, Coorg at 260 kilometres is the better choice.
We operate 9, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater tempo travellers, all air-conditioned. The 12 seater suits families, the 17 seater works for extended groups, and the 18 seater handles corporate offsites and college trips. Be aware that some Wayanad resort approach roads are narrow, so for the largest vehicles we confirm access with the property before departure.
Twenty per cent of the total fare is payable in advance. The fare includes base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Toll and parking, Kerala interstate tax, GST, and extra driver bata for running after 9:45 pm are charged separately. Forest entry fees, safari charges and trek permits are paid directly by the group. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage.
No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory commercial vehicle insurance required by law, but individual passenger cover is not included. Given that this itinerary involves trekking and forest activity, travellers wanting personal accident or travel cover should arrange it independently before the trip.
The highway to Gundlupet is good throughout, and the forest and ghat sections are generally well maintained. That said, Wayanad receives very heavy monsoon rainfall and the district has experienced serious landslides in recent years. Between June and September we advise checking Kerala district administration advisories before travel, avoiding night driving on ghat sections, and keeping the itinerary flexible. If conditions make a route unsafe, we will say so and offer a full refund or an alternative destination rather than proceed.
Chembra requires Forest Department clearance with a daily cap on trekker numbers and a mandatory guide, so it must be arranged ahead. Wildlife safaris at Muthanga and Tholpetty run in fixed morning and afternoon slots and fill fast in season, with booking at the range office. Your driver can get you there for the opening slot, but the permits themselves are handled by the group directly.
Yes. Share your GST number and preferred invoicing format at the enquiry stage. We issue a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval before travel and a final GST invoice after settlement, with the interstate permit shown as a separate line item.
