Places to Visit in Kurnool

Konda Reddy Fort and the City
The Konda Reddy Buruju is the landmark of Kurnool - a tall watchtower and gateway from the Vijayanagara period standing in the middle of the modern city, named after a chieftain said to have been imprisoned in it. It is a modest monument in itself and the interest is in what it represents: this was a fortified town on the Tungabhadra long before it briefly became a state capital. The city also holds the Birla Mandir and the riverfront where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra. Visit for an hour on an arrival evening; Kurnool is a working city and its interest is as a base rather than a sight.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Kodikonda
Border Town of the Deccan
This is the easiest exit from Bangalore of any route we operate - NH 44 runs north past the international airport on six lanes from the start, and the airport traffic thins beyond Devanahalli. Our drivers aim to be past the airport before 6:15 AM on a circuit departure. Devanahalli holds the fort where Tipu Sultan was born in 1751, standing a short distance off the highway and almost entirely ignored by the traffic. Chikkaballapur follows with the Nandi Hills to the west. Bagepalli is the last Karnataka town, and the Andhra border comes at Kodikonda with the checkpost and toll plaza - the interstate permit is presented here, arranged by us in advance so it is a formality.

Anantapur
Groundnut Capital of India
The Lepakshi turn comes up shortly after the border, around fifteen kilometres off the highway, and it is the best detour available on any road out of Bangalore - the hanging pillar, the great ceiling murals and the monolithic Nandi, in ninety minutes. On a Kurnool circuit trip it is worth building into the outbound leg rather than hoping to fit it on the way back. Penukonda follows, the fortress the Vijayanagara empire retreated to after Hampi fell, now also the site of a major automobile plant that has reshaped the local economy. Anantapur, at just over two hundred kilometres, is the groundnut capital of India and the natural breakfast halt on this route, with good options on the bypass. Beyond it the highway continues north through increasingly dry country.
Gooty
Hill Fort of Rayalaseema
Sixty kilometres of continuing excellent divided highway across open Rayalaseema. This is dry, hot country - the district is among the least watered in India - and the landscape is granite outcrop and scrub, with the occasional irrigated patch marking a tank or a borewell belt. Gooty announces itself with its fort, a Vijayanagara and later Maratha stronghold built across a steep granite outcrop directly above the road. Murari Rao held it and Hyder Ali took it after a long siege; the walls climb the rock in stages and the whole thing is visible from the highway. It is a worthwhile hour for anyone with time in hand, and it is one of three substantial forts on this corridor along with Penukonda and Rayadurgam.

Kurnool
First Capital of Andhra State
Ninety-five kilometres of fast highway north. Dhone is a railway town where the lines toward Guntakal, Kurnool and Nandyal meet, and it is the sort of place whose importance is entirely invisible from the road. Beyond it the country begins to change - the Nallamala hills appear on the eastern horizon and the land drops toward the Tungabhadra basin. Kurnool sits where the Hundri joins the Tungabhadra, with the Konda Reddy fort tower in the middle of the modern city. It was the capital of Andhra State from 1953 to 1956 before the move to Hyderabad, and it retains a certain civic weight from that. Practically it is a substantial city with the hotels, hospitals, fuel and services a circuit trip needs, and it is the base from which Belum, Yaganti, Mahanandi, Ahobilam and Alampur are all reachable. Our driver takes you to the confirmed address and assists with luggage. A 6:00 AM departure puts most travellers in Kurnool by around 10:30 AM.

Tempo Traveller Packages for the Bangalore to Kurnool Route
Corporate Package
Built for Bangalore teams travelling to the Kurnool and Nandyal industrial belt for plant visits, dealer meets and vendor audits, and for staff pilgrimage days on the Srisailam circuit. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day trip and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate tempo traveller bangalore stays with your team across every leg, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.
Family and Pilgrimage Package
The most common booking on this corridor, and usually a three or four day Rayalaseema circuit rather than a single destination. Designed around temple timings and a driver who understands that the group will be inside Mahanandi or Srisailam for as long as the darshan takes and that the vehicle needs to be waiting when they emerge. Luggage capacity is the practical advantage across a multi-day trip, and the low step and wide door matter when part of the party is elderly. Share your day-wise plan at enquiry and we will tell you honestly what fits in the days you have.
Budget Package
For groups where cost per head decides the booking. Non-AC 9 to 14 seater tempo travellers, point to point, no frills, clean vehicle and a verified driver. This suits pilgrimage associations, college groups and community trips. The tempo traveller rate per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 710 kilometre round trip the saving across a full group is substantial. A caution specific to this route: between March and June, Rayalaseema is genuinely hot, and non-AC is a false economy in those months. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance or driver vetting.
Luxury and Executive Package
Executive configuration with fewer, wider push-back seats, extra legroom, better sound insulation and premium interiors. On a seven-hour drive each way followed by three days of circuit driving, the difference is functional rather than cosmetic, and it is the tier most groups regret not booking. Suited to senior family members, milestone occasions and corporate travel where the passenger list matters. For a step further, our luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration is a premium alternative on the same route.
Our Tempo Traveller Fleet in Bangalore
Our ac tempo traveller bangalore fleet runs 9, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater configurations. We operate the full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount shifts after booking we can usually move you up or down a category without restarting the process.
• Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, AC and non-AC, the core vehicle for this route
• Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van
• Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, for groups that outgrow a tempo traveller
• Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for large movements
• Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Fortuner and Commuter through Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle in our fleet is seated configuration with push-back seats. On a route of this length we plan a daytime run with a hotel halt at Kurnool rather than overnight driving, which is both more comfortable and considerably safer, particularly given the forest section on the Srisailam leg.
Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra
We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.
Included in the Quoted Fare
• Base fare and fuel charges
• Driver allowance
Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and permit for the Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh crossing
• Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage
The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. On a Kurnool circuit the daily kilometres add up quickly once Srisailam and Ahobilam are in the plan, so give us the full day-wise itinerary and we will quote the whole trip rather than the outbound leg alone.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

What Our Customers Say About Our Tempo Traveller Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Kurnool Tempo Traveller
The bangalore to kurnool distance by road is approximately 355 kilometres via NH44, through Devanahalli, Chikkaballapur, Bagepalli, the Kodikonda check post, Penukonda, Anantapur and Gooty. In a tempo traveller the drive takes 6 hours 30 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes including two halts. Leaving Bangalore between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM gets you in by early afternoon with the evening free, and it clears the airport corridor before the traffic builds.
Yes. Kurnool is in Andhra Pradesh, so crossing from Karnataka requires a valid interstate permit, billed at actuals rather than absorbed into the base rate. It is checked at the Kodikonda post shortly after Bagepalli. We arrange the documentation before departure, so there is nothing for the group to do and clearance normally takes minutes. Be cautious of quotes that look cheaper but make no mention of the permit, because the cost appears on the bill later.
Tempo traveller fare starts around Rs 18,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.
Yes, and this is how most groups book the route. Three nights is the realistic minimum for all four, because Srisailam alone is a 180 kilometre drive each way from Kurnool through the Nallamala hills. A workable four-day plan is Bangalore to Kurnool on day one with Konda Reddy Fort and Oravakallu in the evening; Srisailam on day two; Mahanandi and Ahobilam on day three; Yaganti and Belum on day four with the drive back. Compressing all of it into two days means seeing the car park at each one.
Yes. The ghat road climbs through the Nallamala forest and tiger reserve, and the forest section restricts night movement. Plan to complete that stretch in daylight in both directions. Our drivers on this route work around those timings as a matter of course, but it does mean the Srisailam day starts early and the group needs to be ready on time. Confirm the current timings with your driver the previous evening, since they are adjusted seasonally.
Our fleet covers 9, 12, 14, 17 and 18 seater tempo travellers in AC and non-AC. Under eight passengers, an Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross or Fortuner is usually more economical. Above eighteen we move you to a 12 to 24 seater mini bus, and above twenty-four to a 27 to 50 seater bus, though a coach is awkward on the narrow approach roads to Yaganti, Belum and Ahobilam. We recommend the right size based on your headcount and luggage when you enquire.
It depends entirely on when you travel. Between October and February, non-AC is perfectly comfortable and saves the group money. Between March and June, Rayalaseema gets genuinely hot and the long open stretch between Penukonda and Gooty has little shade, so AC is worth the difference rather than a luxury. We will give you both quotes at enquiry stage if you ask, and we will recommend the one that suits your travel dates.
A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific tempo traveller variant on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card. A receipt is issued within 30 minutes and the balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. For Maha Shivaratri and other major dates on the Srisailam circuit, a higher advance may be requested.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why we plan this route as a daytime drive with a hotel halt at Kurnool rather than an overnight run. The vehicle and driver do stay with your group for the whole booking, covering Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti, Belum, Ahobilam and Alampur as well as the drive itself. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance, quoted as one number.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Multi-day outstation trips to Kurnool and Srisailam need a minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. On insurance, Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com. Our outstation tempo traveller bangalore enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
