Places to Visit in Hogenakkal

The Main Falls and the Carbonatite Gorge

The Main Falls and the Carbonatite Gorge

Unlike most waterfalls, Hogenakkal is not a single drop. The Kaveri splits into roughly fourteen channels that fall in steps from fifteen to sixty-five feet through a maze of rock, so what you get is not one view but dozens. The rock itself is the quiet marvel here: carbonatite, an unusual igneous formation reckoned to be among the oldest of its kind in South Asia and one of the oldest anywhere in the world. Centuries of water have polished it into smooth flutes and potholes. Please do not carve or litter on it.

The Coracle Ride

The Coracle Ride

The parisal - a round basket boat of bamboo and hide, unchanged in design for centuries - is the reason most people come. A single coracle carries around six passengers plus the boatman, who spins it deliberately in the current at least once to general screaming. Rates are per boat rather than per head, so a larger group splits the cost better. Agree the price and exactly what the ride covers before you get in, ask for life jackets, and choose an operator who provides them without being asked.

The Hanging Bridge and Viewpoints

The Hanging Bridge and Viewpoints

The suspension bridge over the river gives the best wide view of the gorge and is the standard photograph everyone takes home. Several marked viewing decks above the main falls offer different angles, and in full post-monsoon flow the sound from them is genuinely startling. Early morning light is much better than midday for photography, and it is also the only time of day the rocks are comfortable underfoot.

Kaveri Fish and the Riverside Stalls

Kaveri Fish and the Riverside Stalls

The freshly fried river fish is not a tourist gimmick but the local trade. Women at the stalls will show you the catch - katla, rohu, keluthi, valai and others - clean and fry it in front of you, and serve it hot with lime. Prices are negotiable and worth agreeing first. If you eat fish at all, this is the single best thing you will consume anywhere on this route, and it is the reason many people plan the trip around lunch rather than the falls.

Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre

Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre

A short walk from the falls, this small government-run facility houses a sizeable population of rescued crocodiles alongside a herbal garden and an eco shop selling honey, tea and herbal powders. It is modest rather than spectacular, and half an hour covers it, but children enjoy it and it makes a useful break from the sun. There is a nominal entry fee and it is generally open through the day.

Melagiri Hills and Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary

Melagiri Hills and Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary

The hills you drive through on the Anchetty route form part of the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, a dry deciduous forest belt that is an important elephant corridor between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, with leopard, sloth bear, four-horned antelope and a strong bird list. There are trekking routes on the Karnataka side around Anchetty and Muthathi. Drive this stretch slowly at dawn and dusk - elephant crossings are real and signage is limited.

Urbania Packages for the Bangalore to Hogenakkal Route

Corporate Package

Built for Bangalore teams running a department outing, a small offsite or a client day out — the most common corporate use of this route. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the day, and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The Tamil Nadu permit is arranged and itemised so it clears reimbursement without a query. A corporate urbania rental bangalore booking suits the team size that falls between a car and a coach: twelve to seventeen people, which is most single-team outings. Pickups along the Electronic City and Hosur Road corridor are directly on the route, so nobody travels the wrong way to reach an assembly point. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.

Family and Group Package

Two or three families travelling together, or a group of friends making the classic Bangalore day out. Designed around the fact that a mixed group with children and elders does not move on a schedule and that half the party will end up wet. There is rear space for coolers, mats, towels and a change of clothes for everyone, the driver waits through the day rather than working to a return slot, and the low step-in height and aisle headroom matter when grandparents are travelling. One honest note for family bookings: reaching the water involves steps and uneven rock, so anyone with mobility difficulty is better placed at the upper viewpoint, which is level and gives the best overall view anyway.

Luxury and Executive Package

The 13 seat configuration on the 17 seat body, which converts two rows into legroom. On this route the luxury tier earns itself on the return leg more than the outbound — after a full day at the river, a wider recliner and properly sized air conditioning is the difference between arriving home tired and arriving home wrecked. Suited to client and senior management outings, milestone family days and any group that would rather the trip felt like an occasion. Our luxury urbania rental bangalore vehicles are held to a higher interior standard and drivers are briefed for formal assignments. For larger parties at a similar comfort level, our volvo bus rental bangalore tier covers 41 to 50 seater coaches on the same route.

Our Vehicle Range in Bangalore

The Force Urbania is available in 13, 16 and 17 seat configurations, all air conditioned. Around it we run a full range of group vehicles from the same Bangalore base, so if your headcount changes after booking we can usually move you to another category without restarting the process.

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van, the vehicle this page covers

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, the more economical option in a similar seating range

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC, for larger day-trip groups

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches for school excursions and large corporate outings

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner through Commuter, Corolla Altis and Camry, up to Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On the Hogenakkal route this makes no practical difference, since the trip is a daylight run out and back with the group home the same night.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises everything, so there are no surprises at trip end. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax and the Tamil Nadu permit for the Karnataka border crossing

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

The garage-to-garage basis is standard across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the vehicle leaves our garage for your pickup point and ends when it returns. We factor this into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay. The Tamil Nadu permit applies because the route crosses the state line at Attibele only thirty kilometres out, and it is billed at actuals rather than folded into the rate. On a standard day trip the 9:45 PM driver bata usually does not apply, but it will if the group leaves the falls late — decide your return departure at booking stage so it is priced correctly either way.

Coracle charges, entry fees, massage and food at the falls are paid directly by passengers on site and are not part of the vehicle quote.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the fleet.

How to Book a Force Urbania for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking an Urbania for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location — area or landmark such as Electronic City, HSR Layout, Koramangala, Whitefield, MG Road, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park. Multiple pickup addresses are fine on this vehicle.

•             Share your destination or full itinerary, and your intended return departure time from the falls.

•             Share your number of passengers.

•             Share your preferred configuration: 13, 16 or 17 seat Urbania. The 13 seat layout trades two rows for legroom.

•             Tell us if you want the shorter Thally and Anchetty route considered, so we can check road and forest conditions closer to the date.

•             For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

•             Mention the occasion for corporate and VIP bookings so the team can allocate the best-condition vehicle and, where required, arrange formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote clearly itemises every charge:

•             Urbania hire rate — per kilometre or flat package

•             Driver allowance — Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class

•             Applicable toll estimates

•             The Tamil Nadu interstate permit for the Attibele crossing, billed at actuals

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM, where a late return applies

•             GST

•             No verbal-only prices. Everything in writing before you confirm.

•             Coracle charges, entry fees and food at the falls are paid on site by passengers and are not part of the vehicle quote.

•             For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•             If you want to compare two vehicle classes — Urbania against a tempo traveller, for instance — request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and holds the specific vehicle on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time

•             Pickup location confirmation

•             Full billing breakdown — all in writing

•             The Urbania fleet is limited relative to demand, so for season weekends between August and January, long weekends and the November to February wedding season, book well ahead. A higher advance may apply on peak dates.

Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•             For multiple pickup addresses, the driver confirms the sequence with you the previous evening.

•             The vehicle is clean, sanitised, fuelled and ready.

•             For corporate and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.

•             The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments, the Attibele border formalities and halt coordination.

•             At the falls the driver parks in the designated area and stays with the vehicle for the duration of your visit.

•             At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your vehicle preference, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Urbania for Rent and Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance booking and final settlement at trip end.

•             UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and Amazon Pay. The fastest method with instant confirmation on receipt. Recommended for all advance deposits.

•             Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. For corporate clients and advances above Rs 5,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•             Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•             Net banking — All major Indian banks. Payment link via WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore IT corporate PO-based approvals.

•             Cash — Balance payable at time of travel, accepted at trip end. The advance must be digital for booking confirmation. A receipt is issued.

•             Corporate credit — For registered corporate accounts, with 30-day credit terms for signed Bangalore corporate clients and monthly consolidated invoicing available.

A 20 percent advance confirms your booking. For the luxury tier and for peak dates — season weekends from August to January, long weekends, New Year and the Bangalore wedding season — a higher advance may be required given limited fleet availability.

•             No-show, where the vehicle is deployed and the client is absent — 100 percent of the total trip fare. No refund. The full fare is payable.

•             Cancellation by Tejas Travels due to breakdown or force majeure — No cancellation charge. 100 percent refunded within 2 working days, or a substitute vehicle is offered.

Special Cancellation Conditions for Bangalore Urbania Hire

•             Falls closure — if coracle operations and river access are suspended by the Tamil Nadu authorities due to high flow or a flood warning, and you choose to cancel or postpone, the booking is treated as force majeure with a full refund or a free date change.

•             Weddings — minimum 7-day notice for a full refund. Cancellations within 3 days of the wedding date are non-refundable.

•             Luxury tier — minimum 5-day notice for a full refund, given the limited Bangalore Urbania fleet and wedding season demand.

•             Peak dates — season weekends between August and January, long weekends, New Year and Diwali require a minimum 48-hour notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours is non-refundable.

•             Force majeure — Bangalore bandhs, traffic disruptions, road closures and border restrictions attract a 100 percent refund within 2 working days regardless of notice period.

•             Modifications — date changes, vehicle upgrades and route additions with more than 24 hours notice are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Hogenakkal Urbania

The bangalore to hogenakkal distance on the highway route is approximately 185 kilometres, running down NH44 through Electronic City, Attibele, Hosur, Shoolagiri and Krishnagiri to Dharmapuri, then on the state highway through Pennagaram to the falls. An Urbania covers it in 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes including one halt. There is a shorter road of about 130 kilometres through Thally, Denkanikottai and Anchetty, which we can consider on this vehicle where conditions allow, though not on a coach.

Sometimes, and it is worth asking. The Thally and Anchetty road runs on a narrow ghat road through the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, and it takes close to an hour off each leg when it is open and in condition. Movement through the sanctuary section is restricted at night, the surface varies year to year and the road narrows in places, so we assess it close to your travel date rather than committing at booking. We never take coaches on it under any circumstances. If we judge the highway route safer on the day, that is the route we take and we will tell you why.

August to January is the season. The Kaveri here depends on the southwest monsoon and on upstream releases, so the falls are fullest from August through October and hold good flow into January. By March the flow drops considerably and in a poor year the gorge can be close to dry by May, which makes for a flat trip. At the opposite extreme, during very high flow the Tamil Nadu authorities suspend coracle operations and restrict river access on safety grounds. Check conditions a day or two before travelling — we can advise from what our drivers report.

Yes. Hogenakkal is in Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu and the route crosses the state line at the Attibele check post barely thirty kilometres out of Bangalore, so a valid interstate permit is required. It is billed at actuals as a separate line item rather than absorbed into the base rate. We arrange all documentation before departure and the driver handles the check post, so there is nothing for you to do.

Urbania fare starts around Rs 15,100. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Seat count overlaps, but the vehicles are built differently. The Urbania uses monocoque construction like a modern car, where a tempo traveller has a body mounted on a ladder frame, and the result is a quieter cabin, less body roll and noticeably less vibration. The Urbania also has close to standing headroom in the aisle, larger windows and a lower step-in height. On a day trip this shows up most on the return leg, when the group is tired. A tempo traveller is the more economical choice and remains a good vehicle; we quote both side by side on request so you can decide on the actual difference rather than a description of it.

We operate 13, 16 and 17 seat configurations, all air conditioned. The 17 seater carries the most people; the 13 seater uses the same body with two rows removed, converting that space into legroom, and it is what most families and executive groups choose. Under eight passengers a car or SUV is more economical. Above seventeen, a 12 to 24 seater mini bus or a 27 to 50 seater coach is the right vehicle — school and college excursions to Hogenakkal are normally coach bookings.

Yes, and this is why groups book it rather than cabs. The vehicle and driver stay with you for the whole day, so bags, spare clothes, coolers and anything that should not go down to the rocks stay in the vehicle. Billing is on total kilometres and hours from garage to garage rather than per trip, so the four or five hours of waiting are already inside the quote you approve. Smaller vehicles also park closer to the entrance than coaches do, which saves the group a walk at both ends of a long day.

A few practical things. Reaching the water involves steps and uneven rock, so anyone with mobility difficulty is better placed at the upper viewpoint, which is level and gives the fullest view. Coracles seat four to six, so a group of sixteen needs three or four boats — agree the route, duration and rate before boarding and wear the life jackets provided. Food at the falls is essentially fried river fish from riverbank stalls; there is no restaurant infrastructure, so vegetarians should carry something and anyone wanting a full meal should plan it at Dharmapuri or Krishnagiri. Carry a change of clothes, because most people end up wetter than they intended.

Cancelling more than 72 hours before departure carries no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent of the total fare, between 24 and 48 hours 25 percent, and between 12 and 24 hours 50 percent. Luxury tier bookings need 5 days notice for a full refund. If the authorities suspend river access due to high flow and you cancel or postpone as a result, we treat it as force majeure with a full refund or a free date change. On insurance: Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover, and passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com — our force urbania hire and WhatsApp enquiry lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
