Places to Visit in Dharmasthala

Manjunatha Temple

Manjunatha Temple

The temple stands on the Nethravathi and the deity is Manjunatha, a form of Shiva, with the daivas Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari as guardians. Madhwa Vaishnava priests conduct the worship, and the Jain Heggade family has administered the institution for around eight centuries. Pilgrims traditionally bathe in the river before darshan. Visit in the morning or the evening session; the temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the queue moves efficiently by the standards of shrines this busy.

Visit in the morning or the evening session; the temple keeps a midday break, dress conventions apply, and the queue moves efficiently by the standards of shrines this busy.

The Bahubali Statue at Ratnagiri

The Bahubali Statue at Ratnagiri

On a hill a short distance from the temple stands a thirty-nine foot monolithic statue of Bahubali, carved from a single block of granite at Karkala and installed here in 1973 - a reminder that the family running this Shiva temple is Jain, and a substantial piece of modern monolithic sculpture in its own right. The climb up Ratnagiri is short and the view over the valley and the river is the reward. Visit in the late afternoon. It takes under an hour including the walk and it is the second thing most visitors do here.

The Manjusha and Car Museums

The Manjusha and Car Museums

Manjusha is the temple museum and it is a genuinely good one - sculpture, coins, manuscripts, textiles, weapons and craft objects gathered over decades, well displayed and far more substantial than a temple museum has any obligation to be. Separately, and unexpectedly, the temple maintains a vintage car museum with a collection of pre-war and mid-century vehicles, some of them of real rarity. Visit both in a couple of hours between darshan sessions; the car museum in particular delights people who arrived expecting only a temple.

The Nethravathi

The Nethravathi

The river runs below the town and bathing in it before darshan is the traditional sequence, with ghats and changing facilities at the bank. The Nethravathi rises in the Ghats above Sakleshpur and meets the Kumaradhara at Uppinangady on the road in, which is worth noting as you cross it. Visit in the early morning when the ghats are busy with pilgrims and the light on the water is at its best. Conditions vary with the season and the flow after monsoon rain can be strong, so follow local direction rather than assuming.

Kukke Subramanya

Kukke Subramanya

Around sixty kilometres away, Kukke Subramanya is the other great shrine of this district and the two are almost always visited together. Subramanya is worshipped here in the form associated with serpents, and the temple is the principal place in South India for the Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali rituals performed for Naga Dosha - which brings pilgrims from across the country on specific dates. Visit in the morning. Ritual bookings are made with the temple directly, run to their own calendar and fill well in advance, so plan the vehicle around whatever slot you secure rather than the other way round.

Southadka, Ujire and the Falls

Southadka, Ujire and the Falls

Southadka, around twenty-five kilometres away, is a Ganapathi shrine with no roof and no walls - the deity stands in an open field and the offering is coconut and grass, which makes it one of the more unusual temples in Karnataka and a quiet counterpoint to Dharmasthala. Ujire, eight kilometres from the temple, is the local town and the base for the trek to Bandaje falls, a demanding day through forest to a hundred-metre drop. Didupe falls is easier. Visit Southadka in the morning; for the falls, go between July and December when there is water and check trek arrangements locally.

Bus Packages for the Bangalore to Dharmasthala Route

Corporate Package

Built for Bangalore IT and manufacturing teams travelling for offsites and annual outings, often combining Dharmasthala with a Sakleshpur plantation stay or the Mangalore coast. Includes GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice for PO-based approval, a named driver for the full multi-day charter and consolidated monthly billing for registered accounts. The same corporate bus rental bangalore vehicle stays with your team across the Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya and coastal legs, with duty slips signed daily and reconciled against the final invoice. Our corporate travels bangalore desk manages the arrangement end to end.

Family and Pilgrimage Package

The dominant booking on this corridor by a very wide margin. Temple committees, trusts, associations and extended families of thirty to fifty, travelling two to four days and covering Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya and Southadka, frequently finishing on the coast at Kateel or Udupi. Itineraries are planned around darshan and annadana timings rather than driving hours. Because the temple provides meals and accommodation, the transport is often the largest single line in the trip budget, which is why the written quote matters so much here.

Budget Package

For groups where cost per head decides whether the trip happens, which describes a very large share of Dharmasthala bookings. Non-AC 27 to 41 seater coaches, point to point, clean vehicle, verified driver, no frills. The bus rent per km in bangalore for the non-AC tier is our lowest, and across a 600 kilometre round trip the saving across a full coach is significant. Non-AC is less comfortable on the coastal side, where humidity is high, so we will give you both quotes and let the committee decide. The budget tier is about vehicle specification only, never about maintenance or driver vetting.

Luxury Package

Volvo and Benz coaches with wider push-back seats, better suspension for the ghat descent, superior sound insulation and premium interiors. On a route with a thirty-kilometre continuous descent in the middle of it, suspension and braking quality are practical considerations rather than comfort features. Suited to senior management travel, milestone family trips and large events. Our volvo bus rental bangalore tier is the usual choice, and for smaller premium groups the luxury urbania rental bangalore option in 13 to 17 seater configuration covers the same circuit.

Our Bus Fleet in Bangalore

Our ac bus rental bangalore fleet covers 27 to 50 seater coaches, including Volvo and Benz. Dharmasthala’s approach roads and parking are built for heavy bus traffic, so a full-size coach is entirely appropriate on this route, and every group vehicle category runs from the same Bangalore base if your headcount changes after booking.

•             Bus — 27 to 50 seater, including Volvo and Benz coaches, AC and non-AC

•             Mini bus — 12 to 24 seater, AC and non-AC

•             Tempo traveller — 8 to 18 seater, for smaller parties on the same circuit

•             Force Urbania — 13 to 17 seater luxury van

•             Cars — 4 to 7 seater, from Etios, Dzire, Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross through Fortuner and Commuter, up to Corolla Altis, Camry, Audi A6, Audi Q7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E Class, Mercedes-Benz S Class and Rolls-Royce Ghost

Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. Every vehicle is seated configuration with push-back seats, which is why the Dharmasthala run is planned as an early-morning daytime drive rather than an overnight haul. On a route whose midpoint is a thirty-kilometre ghat descent through high-rainfall forest, crossing in daylight with a rested driver is not a preference but the safe way to operate.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Extra

We quote in writing before you book and the quote itemises every line, so nothing appears at trip end that you have not already approved. A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•             Base fare and fuel charges

•             Driver allowance

Not Included — Billed Separately at Actuals

•             Toll charges and parking fees

•             Interstate tax, where the itinerary crosses a state border — not applicable on the direct Dharmasthala route, which stays within Karnataka

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM

•             GST as applicable

•             Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

Garage-to-garage billing is the standard basis across the organised group transport industry in Bangalore. The meter starts when the coach leaves our garage for your pickup point and stops when it returns. That distance is already built into the written quote, so the number you approve is the number you settle. For trust and association bookings that need committee approval, we can issue the quote in a format that can be tabled directly at a meeting.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if required. Vehicle insurance and full statutory driver and vehicle compliance are maintained across the entire fleet.

How to Book a Bus for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a bus for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•             Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•             Share your travel date.

•             Share your Bangalore pickup location — area, tech park or hotel name, such as Electronic City, Whitefield, Manyata, the BIAL airport area or MG Road.

•             Share your destination or full day-wise itinerary.

•             Share your total group size.

•             Share your preferred bus tier: Standard, Executive, Luxury, Volvo or Benz.

•             Tell us which stops beyond Dharmasthala are planned — Kukke Subramanya, Southadka, Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi — so we can quote the correct kilometres.

•             If you are travelling between June and September, say so at enquiry, since we will check Shiradi Ghat conditions before confirming.

•             For monthly employee commute contract hire, share the route and schedule details.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•             Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•             The quote itemises every charge:

•             Bus hire rate — per kilometre or flat local package

•             Driver allowance

•             Applicable toll estimates

•             Interstate permit where applicable — not required for the direct Dharmasthala route, which stays within Karnataka

•             Additional driver bata after 9:45 PM for late-running temple days

•             GST

•             No verbal-only pricing. Everything is in writing before you commit.

•             For trusts, associations and corporate clients, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage for committee or PO-based approval.

•             Request comparison quotes for AC versus non-AC at the same time, since the coastal leg is humid and it is a decision worth making on the numbers.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•             Review the written quote and confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•             A 20 percent advance payment of the total fare confirms the booking and guarantees the specific bus on your date.

•             Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT, IMPS or RTGS bank transfer, or credit and debit card via payment link.

•             Advance receipt issued within 30 minutes.

•             Your confirmation includes:

•             Driver name and mobile number

•             Vehicle registration number

•             Departure time

•             Pickup location confirmation

•             Full billing breakdown — all sent to WhatsApp or email in writing

•             For peak dates such as Laksha Deepotsava at Dharmasthala, New Year, Diwali, Dasara and long IT weekends, book well ahead and pay the advance early.

Step 4 — Your Driver and Bus Arrive Early

•             Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at the Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•             For large groups from Electronic City or Whitefield, the driver coordinates the exact pickup gate in advance.

•             The bus is clean, sanitised, fuelled and GPS-active.

•             The driver calls you 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•             During the trip the driver handles all routing, toll payments, the Shiradi Ghat descent, temple parking and rest stop coordination.

•             At trip end the balance is settled after deducting the advance.

•             Any additional kilometres or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Quick booking: WhatsApp +91 9980277773 with your group size, Bangalore pickup location, destination and travel date. Written bus hire quote in 2 hours.

Payment Methods — Bus for Rent and Hire in Bangalore

Tejas Travels accepts all major digital and traditional payment methods for both advance deposits and final settlement at trip end.

•             UPI — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM UPI. The fastest method with instant confirmation. Recommended for advance deposits on bus hire.

•             Bank transfer — NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. For large corporate and trust bookings above Rs 15,000. IMPS is instant; NEFT can take up to 2 hours.

•             Credit and debit card — Visa, Mastercard and RuPay, via payment link sent to your registered mobile or email. Valid for both advance and full payment.

•             Net banking — All major Indian banks. Payment link via WhatsApp or email. Preferred for Bangalore MICE and corporate PO approvals.

•             Cash — Balance payable at time of travel, accepted at trip end. The advance must be digital for bus hire confirmation. A receipt is issued.

•             Corporate credit — For registered corporate accounts, with 30-day credit terms for signed corporate clients and monthly consolidated invoicing available.

A 20 percent advance confirms the specific bus on your date. For festival dates and large peak-season charters, a higher advance may apply. Volvo and Benz coach hire should be confirmed well ahead with advance payment, since those units are limited.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Dharmasthala Bus

The bangalore to dharmasthala distance by road is approximately 300 kilometres via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, the Shiradi Ghat and Uppinangady, which is the route we run. That is 6 to 7 hours of driving before meal halts, making it one of the shorter major pilgrimage runs from Bangalore. A 5:30 AM departure gets most groups to Dharmasthala by early afternoon, with the ghat crossed in good light.

It is a thirty-kilometre descent on NH75 between Sakleshpur and Gundya, rebuilt in concrete in recent years and in far better condition than its old reputation. During the June to September monsoon it takes very heavy rain, and landslides, fallen trees and temporary heavy-vehicle restrictions are possible. We check conditions before every monsoon departure and will flag the risk at the quote stage. Charmadi Ghat is not a viable alternative for a full-size coach, so any diversion means the longer route via Mangalore.

Bus fares around Rs 23,500. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Yes, comfortably. Unlike some of our other Malnad routes, road width is not a constraint here. Dharmasthala receives very heavy bus traffic every day and the approach roads and designated parking are built for it, so a full-size coach is entirely appropriate. The same applies to Kukke Subramanya. The only variable on this corridor is the ghat, not the vehicle size.

No. The route stays entirely within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit or state tax on this trip, which keeps the billing simpler than on our Kerala and Tamil Nadu corridors. If your itinerary extends beyond the state, that permit appears as a separate line in the written quote before you confirm.

A 20 percent advance of the total fare confirms your booking and guarantees the specific bus on your travel date. The advance must be paid digitally by UPI, bank transfer or card, and a receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance. Laksha Deepotsava and other festival dates commit early, so for those a higher advance may be requested.

Yes, and this is how nearly every group books it. The same coach and driver remain with you throughout, covering Dharmasthala, the Bahubali statue, the museums, Southadka at thirty kilometres, Kukke Subramanya at fifty-five, and any onward leg to Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi. Multi-day bookings are billed on total kilometres and hours with a per-day minimum plus driver allowance. Share your day-wise itinerary at enquiry stage and we quote the whole trip as one figure.

Two days works for Dharmasthala alone, since the drive is shorter than most pilgrimage routes: up on day one with an afternoon darshan, and back on day two. Three days brings Kukke Subramanya and Southadka comfortably in. Four or five days lets you finish on the coast at Kateel, Mangalore or Udupi rather than doubling back, which makes for a better balanced trip and only adds moderate distance.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate sleeper bus services. All our vehicles are seated configuration with push-back seats. On this route we plan an early morning departure and a daytime drive, which matters more here than on a flat highway route, because the midpoint is a thirty-kilometre ghat descent through high-rainfall forest that should not be taken after dark in poor weather with a full load.

Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they wish to be covered. All vehicles carry valid insurance and full statutory compliance, and every driver is verified with a commercial licence and route experience, but personal passenger cover is not part of the booking. To book, call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773 or email info@tejastravels.com with your travel date, Bangalore pickup location, group size and day-wise itinerary.
