The stretch of NH-766 passing through the Bandipur Tiger Reserve is closed to all traffic between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM under a long-standing restriction intended to prevent wildlife roadkill. It is strictly enforced at the forest checkposts. Plan to be through the reserve by 8:00 PM, and be aware that a late departure from Bangalore can leave you waiting at the gate until morning.
Safari tickets are issued by the Karnataka Forest Department, and jeep and bus safaris are always operated in their own vehicles — no private vehicle is permitted into the core zone. We do not sell safari tickets, but our drivers know the counter timings, will drop and wait at the safari point, and will advise on realistic departure times so you make your slot. Jeep slots are limited and should be booked online well in advance, especially for weekends and holidays.
Yes. Bandipur combines naturally with Ooty and Masinagudi in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad in Kerala, and Kabini and Nagarhole within Karnataka. Any itinerary crossing into Tamil Nadu or Kerala requires an interstate permit, which we arrange in advance — please declare the full itinerary at the time of booking so the permit cost appears in the written quote rather than as a surprise at the border checkpost.
Cancellations more than 72 hours before departure carry no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent, between 24 and 48 hours it is 25 percent, between 12 and 24 hours it is 50 percent, and under 12 hours it is 75 percent of the total trip fare. Date changes and vehicle upgrades requested more than 24 hours ahead are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Travellers who want cover should arrange their own travel insurance before the trip. We also do not operate sleeper bus services — our fleet covers 27 to 50 seater buses including Volvo and Benz, 8 to 18 seater tempo travellers, 12 to 24 seater minibuses, 13 to 17 seater Urbania and 4 to 7 seater cars.
October to February gives the most comfortable weather and reliable visibility, and is the peak booking window. March to May is hotter but arguably the best wildlife season, because animals concentrate around the shrinking waterholes and sightings improve sharply. The monsoon from June to September brings the forest to its greenest and pairs well with the Gundlupet flower fields, though safari conditions can be unpredictable. Book at least a week ahead for any long weekend, Dasara or New Year departure.
