Bandipur National Park Safari
The main reason most travellers book a Bangalore to Bandipur cab in the first place, this Project Tiger reserve was established in 1974 and today holds one of India's healthiest tiger and elephant populations across its dry deciduous and scrub forest. Safaris run in fixed morning and afternoon slots using open jeeps, forest department buses, or canters, and sightings regularly include elephants, gaur, spotted deer, and occasionally tigers, leopards, or the elusive dhole. The reserve is divided into distinct safari zones, including Mysore, Kalkere, Moyar, and Gopalaswamy Betta, each with a slightly different terrain and sighting profile, and permits are best booked in advance through the official forest department portal, particularly during the October to May peak season.

Bangalore
Departure Point
Your journey to Ooty begins from Bangalore, the gateway to South India's most beloved hill stations. Pick-up is available from any part of the city — Koramangala, Electronic City, Whitefield, Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Marathahalli, or Majestic. The most common route out of Bangalore takes you onto NH275, the six-lane Mysore Expressway, which is one of the smoothest and best-maintained national highways in Karnataka. An early departure between 5 AM and 6 AM is strongly advised to clear Bangalore city limits before peak traffic begins. The first 50 km on the expressway are fast, comfortable, and lightly trafficked in the early hours, setting a pleasant tone for the journey ahead. Our drivers are experienced in choosing the optimal departure window and route based on real-time traffic conditions, ensuring that the first stretch of your Bangalore to Ooty road trip is efficient, calm, and enjoyable from the very first kilometre.

Ramanagara and Channapatna
Toy Town of Karnataka
The Bangalore to Bandipur drive begins on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, first passing the granite hills of Ramanagara, made famous by the 1975 film Sholay, before reaching Channapatna, the town celebrated across Karnataka for its lacquered wooden toys and a craft tradition recognised with a Geographical Indication tag. Dozens of roadside shops sell handcrafted spinning tops, dolls, and decorative pieces turned on a lathe and coloured with natural lacquer, and a short stop of fifteen to twenty minutes here is a near-universal ritual on this highway. Beyond the toys, the town has a handful of temples and an old mosque worth a quick look if time allows, though most travellers with a long day of driving ahead keep this halt brief before continuing toward Maddur, Mandya, and Mysore.

Mysore
Cultural Capital
Mysore marks roughly two-thirds of the total distance and is the natural place for a longer break, whether that means lunch at one of the city's well known restaurants or a short detour to Mysore Palace and Chamundi Hills for travellers splitting the trip across two days. From here, the character of the drive shifts, since the wide expressway gives way to a state highway heading toward Nanjangud and eventually Gundlupet. Many Bandipur bound travellers who want to combine the safari with some sightseeing choose to overnight in Mysore, covering the city's attractions the evening before continuing on to the reserve the next morning in time for the first safari slot.

Nanjangud
Temple Town on the Kapila
Known locally as Dakshina Kashi for its prominent Srikanteshwara Temple, Nanjangud sits on the banks of the Kapila River and is one of the more significant pilgrimage towns along this corridor. The temple's tall gopura and riverside setting make it worth a brief stop if the schedule allows, though most Bandipur bound travellers pass through fairly quickly given the safari timings waiting ahead. Past Nanjangud, roadside stalls selling local snacks become more frequent, and the highway begins its gradual narrowing as the drive moves further from Mysore's urban sprawl into the drier scrub country that leads toward Gundlupet.

Gundlupet
Gateway to the Reserve
Gundlupet is the last significant town before the highway enters Bandipur's forest boundary, and it serves as a practical checkpoint for fuel, snacks, and a final network signal check before the road pushes into the reserve itself. The town also marks the point where NH766 begins its stretch through core tiger habitat, which is why the strict nighttime driving ban between 9 PM and 6 AM starts being enforced from around this point onward. Drivers experienced with this route treat Gundlupet as the moment the trip shifts from open highway driving into the more attentive, speed-restricted pace required once the road enters protected forest.

Bandipur
Journey's End
The final stretch into Bandipur passes directly through the reserve's dry deciduous forest, with speed limits strictly enforced and wildlife crossing signs a regular sight along the highway itself. Most cabs that leave Bangalore by five or six in the morning reach the park gate and nearby resorts by late morning, leaving enough time to check in and join an afternoon safari slot on the same day. Because the highway itself cuts through the reserve, sightings of deer, langurs, or even elephants crossing the road are not uncommon even before a formal safari begins, giving arriving travellers an early taste of what the safari has in store.

Billing Details — What Is Included and What Is Not
Transparency at quote stage is the single thing group planners ask us for most, so the structure below is fixed and appears in every written quote before you pay anything.
Advance payment. Twenty percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking. The balance is settled at trip end.
Included in the quoted fare:
• Base fare and fuel charges for the agreed itinerary
• Driver allowance for the duration of the trip
Not included in the quoted fare:
• Toll charges and parking fees
• Interstate tax and permit charges, applicable if the itinerary extends into Tamil Nadu or Kerala
• Additional driver bata for travel after 9:45 PM
• GST as applicable
• Final rental is computed on total kilometres and hours on a garage-to-garage basis, from our garage and back to our garage
Insurance note. Tejas Tours and Travels does not provide passenger insurance cover. Passengers travelling on any of our vehicles are advised to arrange their own travel insurance if they require cover.
Forest department charges. Bandipur safari tickets, park entry fees, camera fees and any resort or lodge charges are paid directly by the group to the forest department or the property. These are never included in the vehicle quote, and we do not add a margin on them.

Booking a Force Urbania for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under five minutes. Follow these four steps.
Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels
• Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Share your travel date and Bangalore pickup location — the area or a landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park
• Share the destination or the full itinerary, the number of passengers, and your preferred vehicle
• For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number — the driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically
• For luxury vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Rolls-Royce, also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding or VIP event — so the team can allocate the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire
Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote
• Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote by WhatsApp or email
• The quote itemises every charge: vehicle hire rate in rupees per kilometre or as a flat package, driver allowance of Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class, applicable toll estimates, and any interstate permit — Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati
• No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm
• For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage
• If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time
Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay the Advance
• Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm by WhatsApp or phone
• A 20 percent advance payment confirms the booking

• Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes
• Confirmation includes the driver name and mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time, pickup location and the full billing breakdown, all in writing
• For luxury vehicles such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S Class, the advance may be higher because of limited fleet availability and Bangalore peak-date demand during wedding season from November to February and over New Year

What Our Customers Say About Our Urbania Services in Bangalore
Why Choose Tejas Tours and Travels?
Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Bandipur Urbania
The bangalore to bandipur distance is approximately 220 to 232 kilometres depending on your pickup point in Bangalore and which safari gate you are heading to. Driving time is 5 hours to 5 hours 30 minutes including one meal halt, using the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to Mysore and then NH-766 through Nanjangud and Gundlupet. Add an hour if you plan a proper stop at Srirangapatna or Channapatna.
Our Force Urbania fleet runs in 13 to 17 seater configurations. The 17 seater is the standard high-capacity layout; the 13 seater is the 2+1 luxury configuration with individual reclining seats and considerably more legroom and luggage space. For groups above seventeen, we would recommend a minibus in the 12 to 24 seater range or a tempo traveller.
The fare includes the base fare, fuel charges and the driver allowance. It excludes toll and parking, interstate tax, additional driver bata for travel after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours on a garage-to-garage basis. Bandipur park entry and safari tickets are paid separately by the group directly to the forest department.
Twenty percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm your booking. You can pay by UPI, bank transfer or card through a payment link, and the advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes. The balance is settled at the end of the trip after deducting the advance.
Yes, and it is the single most important planning constraint on this route. The stretch of NH-766 passing through the Bandipur Tiger Reserve is closed to all traffic between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM under a long-standing restriction intended to prevent wildlife roadkill. It is strictly enforced at the forest checkposts. Plan to be through the reserve by 8:00 PM, and be aware that a late departure from Bangalore can leave you waiting at the gate until morning.
Safari tickets are issued by the Karnataka Forest Department, and jeep and bus safaris are always operated in their own vehicles — no private vehicle is permitted into the core zone. We do not sell safari tickets, but our drivers know the counter timings, will drop and wait at the safari point, and will advise on realistic departure times so you make your slot. Jeep slots are limited and should be booked online well in advance, especially for weekends and holidays.
Yes. Bandipur combines naturally with Ooty and Masinagudi in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad in Kerala, and Kabini and Nagarhole within Karnataka. Any itinerary crossing into Tamil Nadu or Kerala requires an interstate permit, which we arrange in advance — please declare the full itinerary at the time of booking so the permit cost appears in the written quote rather than as a surprise at the border checkpost.
Cancellations more than 72 hours before departure carry no charge and the full advance is refunded within 5 to 7 working days. Between 48 and 72 hours the charge is 10 percent, between 24 and 48 hours it is 25 percent, between 12 and 24 hours it is 50 percent, and under 12 hours it is 75 percent of the total trip fare. Date changes and vehicle upgrades requested more than 24 hours ahead are accommodated at no penalty, subject to availability.
Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Travellers who want cover should arrange their own travel insurance before the trip. We also do not operate sleeper bus services — our fleet covers 27 to 50 seater buses including Volvo and Benz, 8 to 18 seater tempo travellers, 12 to 24 seater minibuses, 13 to 17 seater Urbania and 4 to 7 seater cars.
October to February gives the most comfortable weather and reliable visibility, and is the peak booking window. March to May is hotter but arguably the best wildlife season, because animals concentrate around the shrinking waterholes and sightings improve sharply. The monsoon from June to September brings the forest to its greenest and pairs well with the Gundlupet flower fields, though safari conditions can be unpredictable. Book at least a week ahead for any long weekend, Dasara or New Year departure.
