Gommateshwara Bahubali and Vindhyagiri Hill

Gommateshwara Bahubali and Vindhyagiri Hill

The monolithic statue of Bahubali, commissioned around 981 CE by Chavundaraya, a minister and commander of the Western Ganga dynasty, stands roughly fifty-seven feet tall and is carved from a single block of granite. Bahubali is depicted in kayotsarga, the standing meditation posture, with creepers carved climbing his legs and arms to signify how long he stood unmoving. The face is the thing people remember - it carries an expression of complete detachment that photographs consistently fail to capture. Around the summit enclosure stand further Tirthankara images added under the Hoysalas. Entry is free, photography is generally permitted, and the view back over the town, the Kalyani and Chandragiri opposite is the reward for the climb.

Chandragiri Hill and the Jain Basadis

Chandragiri Hill and the Jain Basadis

The smaller hill facing Vindhyagiri, and the older of the two in terms of continuous Jain presence. By long tradition the Mauryan emperor Chandragupta Maurya renounced his empire, travelled south as a Jain monk with his teacher Bhadrabahu, and spent his final years here - the hill takes its name from him, and the Chandragupta Basadi commemorates the association. The summit holds a cluster of basadis in Ganga and Hoysala styles, quieter and architecturally richer than anything on the larger hill. The climb is far gentler, at around two hundred steps. Visit it if the group includes anyone who cannot manage Vindhyagiri, and visit it anyway if you have the time - most day-trippers skip it and miss the better half of the site.

Bhandari Basadi and Akkana Basadi

Bhandari Basadi and Akkana Basadi

Two of the significant ground-level temples in the town, both reachable without any climbing at all. Bhandari Basadi, built in the twelfth century under the Hoysalas, holds images of all twenty-four Tirthankaras lined up in a row within the sanctum, which is an unusual and striking arrangement. Akkana Basadi, from 1181 CE, is the finer of the two architecturally, with the lathe-turned Hoysala columns and the precision of surface finish that mark the best work of that period. Together they take around forty-five minutes and they are the answer for anyone in your group staying at ground level while others climb.

The Kalyani and the Bhattaraka Math

The Kalyani and the Bhattaraka Math

The Kalyani is the temple tank sitting between the two hills, and it is the feature the town is named for - Belagola, the white pond. The Bhattaraka Math beside it is the seat of an ancient Digambara Jain monastic lineage whose heads have all borne the name Charukirti, and it holds a collection of manuscripts, palm-leaf texts and painted murals. More than eight hundred inscriptions dating from around 600 CE to 1830 are recorded across the two hills and the town, in Kannada, Sanskrit, Marathi, Tamil and older scripts - which makes Shravanabelagola one of the most important epigraphical sites in India, quite apart from the statue.

Kambadahalli and the Nearby Jain Sites

Kambadahalli and the Nearby Jain Sites

About twenty kilometres from Shravanabelagola near Nagamangala, Kambadahalli holds the Panchakuta Basadi, a tenth-century Jain temple complex in Ganga and Nolamba style with a free-standing pillar and five shrines arranged around a common platform. It is an Archaeological Survey protected monument, it is architecturally significant, and on most days you will have it to yourself. Visit if the group has a genuine interest in Jain architecture and you are not attempting Belur and Halebidu on the same day - the two are alternatives rather than additions, since both need real time.

Belur and Halebidu

Belur and Halebidu

The natural extension, and the reason a great many of our bookings on this route are full-day circuits rather than short trips. Belur, about seventy kilometres beyond Shravanabelagola, holds the Chennakeshava Temple commissioned in 1117 CE and worked on for over a century, with its celebrated bracket figures around the outer wall. Halebidu, sixteen kilometres further, holds the Hoysaleswara Temple with the most densely carved exterior in Indian architecture. Both were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2023. Doing all three sites in one day from Bangalore is a twelve to thirteen hour commitment and needs a 5:30 AM start.

Urbania Packages for Every Group

Every quotation is built around what the group actually needs rather than picked off a fixed menu. The tiers below describe how we normally structure bangalore to shravanabelagola urbania enquiries.

Family and Pilgrimage Urbania Package

The dominant booking on this corridor. Extended families travelling for darshan across three generations, and Jain sanghs for whom this is a lifetime visit. The 13 and 15 seater are the usual choice, and the planning conversation we have with every family booking is about the climb rather than the drive, because six hundred and fifty barefoot steps on open granite does not suit everyone and it is far better settled in Bangalore than at the base of the hill. Where a group has mixed ability we plan a split morning: some climb Vindhyagiri, others take Chandragiri or stay with the ground-level basadis, and everyone regroups at the Kalyani. Drivers assigned to family bookings are selected for patience with long waits and for keeping the cabin cool and available throughout. Our 13 seater urbania rent bangalore configuration is the most requested size on this route.

Corporate Urbania Package

For company outings, cultural days and client hosting where a heritage circuit makes a better impression than another resort. Documentation is handled up front: GST invoicing, a Proforma Invoice at quotation stage for purchase-order approval, monthly consolidated billing and thirty-day credit terms for signed accounts. For a corporate group we would normally recommend the full Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebidu day rather than the short trip — it fills the day properly, the drive is easy enough that nobody arrives tired, and the Urbania cabin makes the return leg productive rather than merely survivable. Teams from Whitefield, Electronic City, Manyata and the Outer Ring Road corridor book this regularly. Our corporate travels bangalore desk handles ongoing requirements and standing accounts.

Luxury and VIP Urbania Package

For senior family groups, visiting guests and travellers who want the day to be comfortable rather than merely completed. This tier draws on the 15, 16 and 17 seater end of the fleet with the full recliner and dual-zone specification, a chauffeur in formal attire where the occasion calls for it, and vehicle allocation confirmed by registration number rather than by class. On this route the value is specific and practical: on a full heritage circuit the vehicle is the air-conditioned space your group returns to after each site, several times across a thirteen-hour day, and after six hundred and fifty steps in the sun that stops being a luxury and becomes the thing that makes the rest of the day possible. See the luxury urbania rental bangalore fleet and the 16 seater urbania configuration.

Fare Inclusions, Exclusions and Advance Payment

Every Tejas Tours and Travels quotation for the Bangalore to Shravanabelagola Urbania corridor is issued in writing with the structure below. Nothing outside this list is charged, and everything inside it is stated before you confirm.

Advance payment: 20 percent of the total fare is payable in advance to confirm the booking.

Included in the Quoted Fare

•     Base fare and fuel charges

•     Driver allowance

Not Included in the Quoted Fare

•     Toll and parking charges

•     Interstate tax

•     Driver bata after 9:45 PM, charged extra

•     Final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage

•     GST

Insurance note: Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Passengers are advised to arrange their own travel cover where required. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences.

Two points are specific to this route. First, doli or palanquin charges at the base of Vindhyagiri, and any donations or special darshan arrangements at the site, are paid locally and sit entirely outside the vehicle fare. We will tell you the expected order of cost, but they are not ours to bill and we add no margin to them. Second, Shravanabelagola is within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises on this route; the exclusion remains in our standard terms because it applies to our other corridors. Note also that a full Belur and Halebidu circuit routinely returns to Bangalore after 9:45 PM, which brings the driver bata clause into play, and we state that in the written quote at the outset rather than adding it at settlement.

How to Book a Force Urbania for Rent in Bangalore — Step by Step

Booking a Force Urbania for hire in Bangalore with Tejas Travels takes under 5 minutes. Follow these 4 steps.

Step 1 — Contact Tejas Travels

•     Call or WhatsApp +91 9980277773, or email info@tejastravels.com — available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

•     Share these details when you make contact:

◦      Travel date

◦      Bangalore pickup location — area or landmark such as Whitefield, Electronic City, MG Road, Koramangala, KIA airport, a hotel name or a tech park

◦      Destination or your full itinerary

◦      Number of passengers

◦      Preferred vehicle

•     For KIA airport pickups, share the flight number. The driver tracks live flight status and adjusts pickup timing for delayed flights automatically.

•     For luxury vehicles such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes or Rolls-Royce, also mention the occasion — corporate, wedding or VIP event — so the team can ensure the best-condition vehicle and, where required, formal chauffeur attire.

Step 2 — Receive Your Written Quote

•     Within 2 hours of your enquiry, Tejas Travels sends a written quote via WhatsApp or email.

•     The quote clearly itemizes every charge:

◦      Vehicle hire rate — Rs/km or flat package

◦      Driver allowance — Rs 400 to 1,000 per day depending on vehicle class

◦      Applicable toll estimates

◦      Any interstate permit if applicable — Tamil Nadu for Ooty, Kerala for Wayanad, Andhra Pradesh for Tirupati

•     No verbal-only prices. Everything is in writing before you confirm.

•     For corporate clients requiring reimbursements, a Proforma Invoice can be issued at this stage.

•     If you want to compare two vehicle classes, request both quotes at the same time.

Step 3 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Advance

•     Once satisfied with the written quote, confirm via WhatsApp or phone.

•     A 20 percent advance payment confirms the booking.

•     Payment options: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), NEFT/IMPS/RTGS bank transfer, or credit/debit card via payment link.

•     Advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes.

•     Your confirmation includes, all in writing:

◦      Driver name and mobile number

◦      Vehicle registration

◦      Departure time

◦      Pickup location

◦      Full billing breakdown

•     For luxury vehicles such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class, the advance may be higher due to limited fleet and Bangalore peak-date demand — wedding season from November to February, and New Year.

Step 4 — Your Driver Arrives Early

•     Your assigned Tejas Travels driver arrives at your confirmed Bangalore pickup point 15 minutes before scheduled departure.

•     For KIA airport transfers, the driver coordinates at the Arrivals gate.

•     The vehicle is clean, sanitized, fuelled and ready.

•     For wedding and VIP bookings, the driver arrives in formal attire.

•     The driver calls 30 minutes before arrival as a courtesy.

•     During the trip, the driver handles all routing, toll payments and Bangalore traffic navigation.

•     At trip end, balance payment is settled after deducting the advance.

•     Any additional km or hours are billed at the pre-agreed rate.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangalore to Shravanabelagola Urbania

The bangalore to shravanabelagola distance is 145 km via NH 75 through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur and Hirisave, turning off at Bellur Cross for the final twelve kilometres. An Urbania covers it in 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes with one halt. It is comfortable four-lane highway throughout with no ghat section, no interstate border and no notorious bottleneck, which makes it one of the most reliably timed outstation routes we operate. A large vehicle is no slower than a car on this corridor.

Urbania fare starts around Rs 12,700. The final figure depends on vehicle class, number of days and total kilometres run. Since billing is garage to garage on actual kilometres and hours, we issue a written itemised quote within 2 hours rather than a verbal estimate.

Our Urbania fleet runs from 8 up to 17 seats. As a working rule, book one seat more than your headcount so that nobody is in the last available position with luggage beside them. Groups of eight to ten take the 9 or 10 seater, eleven to thirteen take the 13 seater, and fourteen to seventeen take the 15, 16 or 17 seater. Above seventeen we move you to a minibus rather than sending two Urbanias, which is almost always cheaper and keeps the group together.

Vindhyagiri rises about 470 feet and the ascent is by rock-cut steps, with published counts varying between roughly 600 and 700 depending on which flight is counted — around 650 is the figure most commonly quoted. Footwear is removed at the base, so the entire climb is barefoot on stone. Handrails run along much of it and there are gateways to pause at, but there is essentially no shade until the top. A reasonably fit adult takes thirty to forty-five minutes up. Budget two hours for the hill including time at the summit.

Doli or palanquin carriers operate at the base and will carry a passenger up for a negotiated fee, commonly reported in the range of several hundred rupees, but availability is inconsistent and thins in the low season, so do not build the trip around the assumption that one will be waiting. For a mixed-ability group the better plan is to split: some climb Vindhyagiri while others take Chandragiri, which is a far gentler two hundred steps, or stay at ground level for Bhandari Basadi, Akkana Basadi and the Kalyani. All of those are worth visiting in their own right. The Urbania stays parked at the base with the driver and the air conditioning available throughout.

Between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, and on this route the reason is the climb rather than the traffic. Arriving by 9:00 AM means going up before the granite heats and before the sun is directly overhead. Between noon and 4:00 PM a barefoot climb on sun-heated rock is genuinely unpleasant and, in April and May, unwise. Groups boarding in Electronic City or Whitefield should allow an extra forty-five minutes to cross the city, so we usually suggest a 5:00 AM pickup for them.

A 20 percent advance on the total fare confirms your booking and holds the specific vehicle for your date. The advance receipt is issued within 30 minutes, and your confirmation includes the driver name, mobile number, vehicle registration, departure time and the full billing breakdown in writing. The balance is settled at trip end after deducting the advance, either in cash to the driver or online via a payment link.

Included: base fare, fuel charges and driver allowance. Not included: toll and parking, interstate tax, driver bata after 9:45 PM, and GST. The final rental is calculated on total kilometres and hours from our garage to garage. Doli charges and site donations are paid locally and sit outside the fare entirely. Shravanabelagola is within Karnataka, so no interstate permit arises on this route. Note that a full Belur and Halebidu circuit routinely returns after 9:45 PM, which brings the driver bata clause into play, and we state that in the quote up front rather than adding it at settlement.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not cover passenger insurance. Our vehicles carry the statutory motor insurance required under law and our drivers hold valid commercial licences, but passengers wanting personal travel cover should arrange it independently. For school and college heritage excursions a group travel policy is usually inexpensive and is often required by the institution in any case.

Yes, with a 5:30 AM departure and a group that can handle a twelve to thirteen hour day. The efficient order from Bangalore is Shravanabelagola first, since it sits before Hassan, then Belur, then Halebidu. Shravanabelagola alone needs two hours including the climb, Belur an hour to ninety minutes, and Halebidu an hour, plus travel between them. If the group includes elderly members we honestly recommend dropping one site rather than rushing all three, or splitting the shravanabelagola belur halebidu tour across an overnight in Hassan. The Urbania cabin is the single biggest reason groups manage the full circuit comfortably.

No. Tejas Tours and Travels does not operate a sleeper bus service. For overnight or multi-day group travel on this corridor we recommend either a Volvo or Benz seater coach from our 27 to 50 seater fleet, or an Urbania with a night halt in Hassan. Our Urbania recliners are comfortable for long seated journeys but they are not berths, and we would rather say so plainly at the enquiry stage than have you discover it at midnight.

It is the grand anointing ceremony held once every twelve years, in which the Bahubali statue is bathed from a scaffold with milk, curd, ghee, saffron, sandalwood, turmeric, vermilion and flowers. The ceremony is recorded as having begun in 981 CE and it draws enormous crowds from across India and abroad. The most recent was held in February 2018, which places the next in the 2030 cycle, though dates are set and announced by the Jain math and the state administration. If you plan to attend, both accommodation and vehicles need booking many months ahead — Urbania availability in particular disappears early for that event.
